Commentary

a. According to the Shafi, Maliki and Hanbali schools what is intended by water that the people share and therefore cannot buy and sell is the rain water, river water and the like, and not water from private sources such as a private well. The pastures are the open areas of land which are not owned by anyone, or land which is not being used for agriculture and has the normal vegetation for grazing cattle. Fire indicates any natural resources which are used to produce heat and energy, such as wood, coal and oil.

b. Other narrations also indicate that people can possess and sell water as long as the community was not in dire need of it.

c. It can be derived from these narrations that whatever the community is in need of must be provided and cannot be withheld privately to the disadvantage of the people. So the state is responsible to provide the people with access to water and energy as required to fulfill their needs, and all public utilities as necessitated by the time and place.

d. It is therefore not permissible to adopt the model of liberal privatization whereby even the essential public utilities are sold to private companies and are therefore not available except to those who pay for them, leading to a society where only those with material wealth can access vital services

We don't need free money. That's what I was trying to point out.

Rs.800 billion just for interest. This is why there is a growing number of people in Pakistan who say that Pakistan will have no choice but to default on the loans, whether public debt or internationally borrowed money.

Many countries have done this by the way and their economies are still continuing without a backlash from the international community.

It will be very limited by US/NATO. (i.e Abottabad raid). Not really occupy Pakistan in our eyes but other eyes can see, they can send Drones attacks, B-52 bombers, USAF jets, Stealth Helicopters, CIA agents, US SSGs, NATO helicopters/jets, US Artillery, US Air Carriers just in case, F-18s, vice versa. Pakistan pretty defenceless.

Pakistan can not be occupied by anyone unless we lay down our weapons and refuse to fight. The US has already suffered in Afghan with an economy that is about to collapse completely (not another recession, but an actual collapse). A war with Pakistan will end America's role as a superpower once and for all.

If war breaks out, then their dollar collapses further. A prolongation of war and occupation will turn the US bankrupt since the Fed has a limit to how much they can lend the US Govt. The US simply can not afford an all-out war and occupation.

Instead they rely on supporting terrorism, drone attacks and applying diplomatic pressure on Pakistan to bleed us.

Education is by far a bigger hurdle to occupation. An educated society asks questions. It forces governments to do what is right for their country. No foreign power can influence a country with an educated society. We really have to focus on that and develop better technology (civilian and military) for our defense and social improvement.

A very sensationalist hypothesis. Do you think that USA will take chances against us under strained economic conditions? Also, US economy is currently strained due to impact of recession and massive expenditure. Sooner or later, these matters can be addressed.

Once the recession is gone; then we may witness more retaliation on Islamic states depending upon how things turn out in the coming days.

Also, their is no contest between US and Pakistani military power. I have elaborated on this before and even Intelligence officials accept this. So get this accross your thick skulls. We need some real industrial capabilities to compete with the likes of USA.

Also, the way things are going in and around Pakistan; it seems as if we are falling in a carefully laid trap by our enemies. Our enemies are very smart. We should learn from our past mistakes and try to get back on our feet. They are economically sqeezing us. The double-digit inflation, poor economy, increase in poverty, collapsing industry, corruption etc... are all signs of situation going bad.

The only way to defeat USA is by becoming a prosperous state with a big impact on global scale. China is a good example. If this happens, we will never have to bow to another state.

US economy is loosing strength like the British economy did in the start of the 20th century. The US economy will not be able to sustain huge military expenses in the long term. To occupy a country of 183,000,000 people will just be a nightmare and Pakistanis are brave people.

The points you make are valid, Legend. However, I still say no. Why? Every one seems to think the US wants to collect countries like trading-cards. We go to war for specific reasons, same as any country, and occuping Pakistan would serve no purpose at all.

My friend, it all depends upon the ever changing GEO-POLITICAL situations.

US always finds new opponents to challenge.

WWII led to COLD WAR.
COLD WAR led to WOT.
WOT will surely lay ground work for new opponents.

If Iran decides to counter US influence in Iraq through a shia uprising after the occupation ends there? Similarly, if Pakistan decides to counter US influence in Afghanistan through a Taliban retakeover after the occupation ends there?

All that hard work that USA put in Iraq and Afghanistan for its ambitions can be in jeopardy due to these over-optimistic moves. the USA will not stay silent. Sooner or later USA will decide to HIT BACK.

This is why I believe that Islamic nations need sensible leadership and not a bunch of exploiters. I hope that SANITY prevails before things turn for the worst.

In addition, wars create business opportunities for USA. US companies develop large variety of arms, which are tested in combat situations. Once the arms are branded as COMBAT TESTED; US gets a decent line-up of customers waiting to buy them. It is simple business but with IMPERIALISTIC mindset behind.
