What's new

Is India really growing faster than China?

How did you infer this from my post?

What you say doesn't make sense considering per capita differences are large.
We have undergone your present phase, of course not mean I am expert, but I tell you idea is obsolete and wrong.

Go to factory or company, working hard, you will know, be realistic.

.
Indeed, China is working very very hard and investing huge money on transforming our industries.
There is no way back!

Sydney metro's TBM, from China!

I am not sure whether the Indian federal system is organised/powerful enough to be able to take the focused decisions that China is making in order to become any more than "middle-income".

Any country, in the absence of war, can attain "middle-income" status but only a select few go onto become developed.

I think for relatively smaller countries like BD and SL, becoming relatively developed is foreseeable.
SL is becoming like a hub between the East and the West.
BD is really close to East Asia-ASEAN, can be comprehensively integrated into this manufacturing powerhouse.

How old is he?
I think if his health is OK, he can handle more terms....Though in China, there is compulsory retirement age for different levels of governors.

You know, policies in India are not really consistent over different leaders.
His substitute must really understand his ideology, otherwise, he himself should work longer!

He is 65 now, but is very active & is yet to take even a single holiday a true workaholic

Developed is far too far away to think about.
Have you any idea of the technogical breakthroughs that you will have to keep making
to develop 1.5 billion people when there is such a limit on the natural resources on the planet?

Try to become middle income around 2035 for a start.

Oh I am sure we will be able to clinch the 2050 Developed goal, also I am aware of the technical breakthroughs we need to make & we are already making our mark on the world. For example, we are number 1 in Thorium technology

65 is actually considered young.....
In China, to be a governor of a province, it takes almost 3 decades from a village-level civil worker, promoted by small steps.....
I guess, he can do it until 75 year old?

You do know that before the Brits India was also known as the "Golden Bird", we were the leaders of world economy back then & with Modi at helm we will retain our true stature in future

What's the relation between thorium and topics here?
I don't get it:o:

It's a reasonable roadmap.
If you mean "developed" as in East Europe, then I have nothing to say....

I always thought you would achieve the Developed country tag by 2030s and I don't mean developed in the sense of Eastern Europe. Well at least you have a surety that you will become developed in near future

Vajpayee was 81 when he quit politics. He was PM, 1998-2004.

Manmohan Singh was 83 when he quit politics. Pm, 2004-2014.

I'm hoping Modi beats them both, stays as PM until he's 85. :D That's 4 terms.

WOW

This is our official roadmap.

India's "developed" status will come in two steps. First step is to eliminate poverty completely, and then push population into middle class. Introduce social security, universal health insurance etc. That goal is 2030.

I have no clue what you are saying.
I think you don't have experienct in factory and company for long time, you know the gap between India with the world, you will despair, even sometimes I will for my Country.

You indian are too obsessed with so-called democracy and privatization, that is misunderstanding, they are just tools, whether they work, depend on the user.

Developing economy is not that easy like you talk, if you can accomplish one thing sooner than others, why other can't? indian need solve many restrictive factors on economy and society development, but you do not know, I think.

It depends on how you define developed.
