I am aware of some British-Bangladeshis have a thing against folks from Dhaka. I really don't get it why.
I would like to think it should be more than your ability to take a direct trip from London to Sylhet.
It would be a real tragic that with this famous British education one cannot think beyond a trip.
Calling people Dhakaiyas (i.e. non-Sylheti) and Sylheti is a well-tried Indian divide/rule propaganda tactic.
Only Indians try this tactic.
@Bilal9
Bilal bhai,
It is bhakts under Sylheti false-flagger guise I think. Trying to divide us.
Debatable. Most bhakts wouldnt even know that there is an ethnic group called "Sylhetis"
Regards

I heard about folks make fun of Sylheti dialect, it is unfortunate but it happens. I don't understand Sylheti dialect well, but I do not make fun of it.To be honest…it peaked during the rule of Ershad…
Military was at its most powerful then…
And controlled Birman and Airports.
It was military’s cash machine at the expense of Sylhetis.
My elderly family members tell horror stories at Dhaka airport by military men. And being robbed off watches, cameras, pressure cookers…
Suitcases regularly cut before being loaded onto belt…
Treated like dirt by Biman officials..
Mocking Sylheti dialect…
Everyone took £50 in cash as military would not accept taka…Bribes..
Etc etc
Seriously? Most Indians don't even know wtf is a dhakiya or sylheti lol

Everyone from ME flights gets harassed by customs and immigration, even to this very day.
Wonder why immigration Kiosks at Dhaka airport stopped working almost right after they were introduced ? I'm not blaming Hasina for this one but that's just how things are in Bangladesh.
Bing devisive doesn't help a whole lot in an international forum.
Sylhetis are not an ethnic group in BD. Some of them have money because many live and work in London. And they have started thinking they are very special with a separate ethnicity.@Bilal9

This thread is all about the death knell of Awami League. That Sylheti guy is trying to derail it by talking about Sylhet.
We must get back to the thread. BAL party has ruined itself. It was the same in 1971. This party is full of thieves and imposters.
American some Assistant Secretary is in Dhaka. He/she has met a few political leaders. Hasina cannot hold election her party in power. A solution of the stalemate requires the formation of an election-time Caretaker govt.
Since Hasina became PM - airport has been freed off military.
So things are a thousand times better.
People are no longer relieved of their shiny possessions.
Which is why she is so popular amongst the British Bangladeshi community

The heinous @BananaRepublicUK Must be a Bhakt. All his posts are garnish. He intentionally derails many threads by talking about unrelated things. It is bhakts under Sylheti false-flagger guise I think. Trying to divide us.
No Sylheti I know talks like this. I know hundreds of them and they are all educated and happy as leaders of Bangladesh society. Some are related to me by marriage relations (rishta).
Most of them will laugh if I bring up this deluded Sylheti/non-Sylheti talk. Most lame thing I ever heard of.
