The T-90 is a very unique looking tank, I doubt that Iran coincidentally made a tank that looks very, very similar and I also doubt that they just copied the look of the T-90 for asthethetics just because they thought it looked cool. The Karrar clearly has connections to the T-90SM, most people agree on that. How far the connection to the T-90SM is anyone's guess. At minimum the Karrar was a joint venture where Russia assisted Iran in the design.


As for tank's engine. Again I maintain that it's almost certainly Russian. One because Iran already operates T-72s and they have experience with the engine and servicing it and two, a reliable power plant is very difficult to mass produce even the Chinese have struggled and Turkey can not even built a reliable engine for the Atlay, they have to get help from other countries.

The Karrar is not 100% a copy of the T-90SM, of course there are differences but it's too close to be a coincidence.

Karrar is in no way a copy of T90MS or a joint venture with Russians.

Karrar is Iran's attempt to take the same path that Russians took when they developed T90MS, so it is inspired by it and not a copy of it.

Karrar utilities a new welded turret, its ERA, elctronic system, gunner sights, FCS, RCWS and other subsystems are Iranian designed, while it uses a chasis that is the same with T72S.

Iran has been manufacturing T72S under license in Bani Hashem complex, so Iran had the capability to built a whole T72(minus engine) for sometime.

Most probably Karrars that are upgraded from T72 use the same Russian made 840hp engine, even newly built Karrars too would have to use a foreign engine for now.

Considering they licensed produce T-72s, I would say with 99.99% certainty it's Russian. Even Turkey can't manufacture a tank engine.

Why buy equipment from "sellouts" after all they will sell you out. Ask the Vietnamese or the Syrians what kind of sellouts Russians are. Both of those countries were Russian allies and Russia came to their aid. A number of countries that were under US influence for decades are now coming to Russia because clearly we are sellouts.
