Though oil is cheap nowadays so the price isn't too important, what's more important is the stability of the supply, like with our pipelines to Russia and Central Asia. I believe Saudi can ship oil from their western side to avoid any possible conflict situation in the Gulf.

Iran constantly talks about "strategic cooperation" that it would like to have with China and Russia. Iran has been seeking to join the SCO for years now, to no effect. Iranian officials and media support Chinese and Russian actions against US hegemony. The most limited cooperation we have with Russia in Syria now has sent the western media into a frenzy, seeing how how they can "peel" Russia and Iran away from each other. Iran continues to seek to buy advanced armss from both these countries.

But these efforts are often hampered.

On the part of Russia, they supported Saddam with billions and billions of arms sales, far outstripping the covert and very small scale sales they made with Iran. They also caved in to US pressure in post-war Iranian rearmament, as well as the Shafaq co-developed advanced trainer and the S-300 deal - which was NOT sanctioned.

The USA has threatened Russia and China with war, over Crimea and the South China Sea respectively. Neither caved, so why would they cave for something vastly less important?

I wish I knew. The downfall of Iran is the biggest US project in the middle east. Either Russia and China share this aim (unlikely to say the least), or they simply didn't care. Russia as always used Iran as little more than a bargaining chip, and China still bought a (reduced) amount of oil from Iran, with the rest being compensated for by the Saudis.

The hostile action of Iranian to china is more recent as is b/c of economical issue.
