Iran Not to Forgive Perpetrators of Attack on Iran Air Flight 655

.
Ok, now I'm a bigot? I just asked a very simple question. Have you ever asked Jews to let go of the grudge and memories of Holocaust? That is also settled. The ones who caused it either were executed or are serving their time in prison (if they are still alive). If not, what is the reason of your allergic reaction to us holding the grudge and memory of this event alive?
There is no comparision between the systematic industrial rounding up and killing of 6 million jews on a rascial basis and the shooting down of Iran flight 665. The fact that you even make that comparison informs me you are a bigot.

Are you trying to tell me that Russia has said it is responsible for MH17? Because I have not heard anything that suggests this. Maybe @vostok or @ptldM3 could help.
No, KAL007 (jeez', how hard is it to comprehend?)

6 million jews didn't die. That number is exaggerated. Or at least I'm not entirely convinced of the 6 million number.

Also his point still stands. Iranians were killed and mistreated in numbers similar to the way European Jews throughout most of the 20th century from Western powers and the Russians/Soviets.

Iran can hold a grudge/memory of something like the airplane shooting if they want to, it's only natural. He is not a bigot in any shape or form.

My best guess is that Penguin has some sort of moral issue with Iran holding a grudge, or that he genuinely doesn't want Iranians to express their anger in this forum (respectable but unavoidable by nature).

So is there a magic number for the number of people that have to be killed for us to remember it then? Is 290 people not enough? Maybe you are the bigoted one, telling us to forget 290 murdered people, as if they are worth nothing. Sorry to say but I will remember them, I will not forgive the murderers, and I will live 1 more second of my life in which I don't hate those bastards... and if that makes me, Arminkh, or anyone else bigoted, then so fucking be it.

No, KAL007 (jeez', how hard is it to comprehend?)

Right.

But still doesn't justify the US not apologising. Unless you think Whataboutism is something you should use to defend the murderers.

I don't know frankly... this is unlike him. Like @Arminkh said, I think he is arguing for the sake of arguing. No real point to his posts, just fighting everybody. Maybe he feels that to distract from an atrocity committed by the west, he has to bring up those committed by the east (especially that "old enemy", Russia).

Well as far as I'm aware kal007 was several hundreds miles off course and flying in Russia no fly zone and its nearly hard to say such things about flight 655.

Flight 665 is tip of the iceberg , actually westerns have done many crimes against Iranians that 665 flight in comparison to them is nothing ... and it's not about the number of people whom lost their lives or their families it's even one life is important and should be protected but mostly about having audacity to shoot down a airline passenger with 300 civilians on board including women & children in recognized international route while the plane is in its own country airspace and you are sailing in that country territorial waters ... and at the end not only apologize for what you have done instead you give the captain medal ...

.
do you guys know how many soldiers died with just one sat. image US gave saddam?
and also they knew saddam used gas from 1980 and even veto that resolution against him.
as a war criminal
not only did not stand against him also backed him! with that images and ....
also they did not apologize for that coap!
that's the problem.
we are not bigot.

Well, see? There you have it. Raise that topic, bigots come out.

Really, you make me spell it for you? Its not about the number(s). It is about the difference between systematic, industrial style killing on a large scale for years versus one situation that went out of control.

ALso, there is a big difference between stating you will remember these people, versus you will extract revenge for their deaths. That should be clear even to you.

But still doesn't justify the US not apologising. Unless you think Whataboutism is something you should use to defend the murderers.
States don't apologize. Ever. Politicians express regret, always. End of story.

Again you can't apparently tell the difference between objecting against (pointless) calls for revenge and defending a shoot down of an airplane.

Well, cases are pick for certain similarities, in this case how governments dealt with it. That clearly doesn't imply the caes are identical. Hello nickpick brigade. Loosing sight of the bigger picture?

Why is Penguin acting like this?
Because this forum isn't for calling for acts of revenge. That's why.

Your last point stands and is fair but did you accuse me of being a bigot? Do you even know what being a bigot is?

I just question the 6 million number not the actual holocaust itself. This is just human curiosity on my part, I'm entitled to questions things.

Iran’s foreign ministry has released a statement to mark the 29th anniversary of the downing of an Iranian commercial airliner by a US Navy guided-missile cruiser back in 1988.

On July 3, 1988, the commercial airliner Iran Air Flight 655 was shot down by a surface-to-air missile fired from the US Navy’s USS Vincennes. The airplane was destroyed between Bandar Abbas and Dubai; all 290 passengers and crew died.

In a statement released early on Monday, the Iranian foreign ministry once again condemned the tragic attack, and stressed that the Iranian nation will never forgive those behind the anti-human crime.

Here is the full text of the statement:

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemns the cowardly and inhumane action of the US Navy that shot down an Iranian passenger plane on July 3, 1988, and also commemorates the martyrdom anniversary of the terrible crime’s victims.

A look at the United States’ long history of inhumane killing of innocent people around the world, including the innocent people of Iran, shows that adopting anti-human behaviour to achieve one’s goals has become institutionalized among different US administrations.

The Iranian nation believes the perpetrators of this tragic event are irrational pretenders who commit crimes under the cover of protecting human rights and defending nations, while they have to be held accountable for their anti-human behaviours.

In the end, we pay tribute to the martyrs of this painful tragedy and express our sympathy to the families of the victims of this anti-human crime, announcing that the Iranian nation has never forgotten this tragedy, and will not forgive its perpetrators.

Well the "not forgetting" part is not one-sided. We have had you guys under constant sanctions for the 444 day US Embassy hostage taking in 1979.

Nobody was calling for revenge when you turned up in this thread.

ALso, there is a big difference between stating you will remember these people, versus you will extract revenge for their deaths. That should be clear even to you.

Also, there is a big difference between stating you will exact revenge, versus you will seek justice for their deaths. That should be clear even to you.

It is about the difference between systematic, industrial style killing on a large scale for years versus one situation that went out of control.

Hundreds of people were killed and the US covered it up and denied it to the point that they were even blaming Iran for them shooting down our airliner.

Both the Holocaust and IR655 were massacres.

However the Holocaust has gotten much more coverage for both right and wrong reasons. We have holocaust remembrance day, Germany still subsidises Israel's military to this day, not to mention Israel was formed with much of the suffering it brought to the Palestinians ignored, their stockpile of nuclear weapons ignored etc.

But it doesn't mean that because the Holocaust was a more significant event, we can ignore IR655 and not compare them.

Bloody Sunday warranted an apology and only 14 people died that day? Are British lives more valuable than Iranian lives? Surely if Iran doesn't deserve and apology but Northern Island does, you are bigoted.

There you have it. Now we're getting to the meat and bones of this discussion which is Western exceptionalism.
