Iran issues ultimatum to Pakistan on IP gas pipeline

Do you have some sort of impairment?! and are immune to logic and reason?! You cannot extrapolate the Turkey, China and india situation with that of Pakistan.

Pakistan can also pay in rupees which could be used to Iran to buy Rice, Wheat and other Pakistani products. But Nawaz Sharif has no backbone.
Gas pipeline can be built and we buy the gas when sanctions are lifted. We cannot even build a pipeline in our own country ? India buys nearly 4 million barrels a month but they dont get warning. Turkey is buying gas from Iran. Did we get a nod from US to finish the fourth Chashma Nuclear plant too ?

Zardari probably the most useless incompetent leader in Pakistans entire history. He doesn't even know how to read or spell and he became a president because of his wife's death coupled with the fact that during his end he signed this agreement, a uneducated fool who wanted to show he did something, when in fact he bought us backwards 60 years.

Nice comments about former President of Pakistan ! Nonetheless Zardari matriculated from elite Catholic St. Patrick's School in Karachi. St. Patrick's does not give High School certificate even to the sons of feudal lords without graduation.

When somebody attack you personally it means that they lost the argument.

Dude you have to be a Pakistani or an Indian to understand it...if India can...the Pakistanis should...and that is the motto. When India tested the nuclear weapon, their leader promised to eat grass and get one for them....and they did....in this instance to if they had a similar will...they would have found a way.

yes you need a leader Zardaris era was the worst for us, during his rule we started having all these problems of electricity gas oil, corruption and incompetence to the fullest all the progress we ever made we went backwards 10 folds. He was not a leader just a criminal who got the golden opportunity of ruling Pakistan in the name of his diseased wife and completely ruined us. The guy was in jail for fraud and he's known as Mr 10% because of every project we had in Pakistan he'd ask for a kick back of 10%. He signed this agreement so I don't think we should be put to blame.

Only god knows the thought process behind your comments. Believe what you wish, but your views are skewed and are somewhere driven by a lack of intellect. I posted sources and coherently stated my case to you, along with other members, i guess some people are just immune to constructing a solid argument. You simply ignore any supporting evidence and override it with your misconceptions. Serves no purpose to debate you any further. Good day.

The way being to postpone and commence at more viable date, Pakistan under the current status-quo cannot and will not look to antagonise the US in any way. It simply cannot afford sanctions again, in sight of this well documented fact, Pakistan should accept Iran is not at fault with regards to the pipeline-deal, but rather look to reassure Iran that the deal will come to fruition at a later date. It would be 'political suicide' for Pakistan to fully cooperate and maintain normalcy with Iran under the current state of affairs.

(Search into Google 'Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline defies US', it's the BBC link).

Pakistan must build this gas pipeline. 190 million Pakistanis need gas for homes, industry and electricity generation. We cannot even build a gas pipeline in our own country !!!

Actually the biggest user of gas in Pakistan should be its agricultural sector since Pakistan is an agricultural country with a major chunk of economy based on agriculture. Gas should be used as feed stock of fertilizers and also as energy for food processing.

LNG is a natural choice a better one compared to pipeline.

Another additional cost with regard to LNG, which I forgot to mention in my previous reply is the storage and regasification plant. Both are very expensive to build and operate. Consider storage which must maintain refrigeration at -165 C at great energy cost and the process of regasificiation needing alot of gas to be burnt to heat up the stored LNG to gas for delivery to pipeline. These are expensive processes adding to costs of LNG.

If we can't go through with it...shouldn't have signed in the first place !

It's done now but it seems that it will never be built. No big deal. And I do not think Iran will charge Pakistan anything. So it is history now.

It will surely be built especially when Nawaz Sharif is defeated in elections. The petrol crisis has severely damaged his reputation and exposed him as incompetent leader.

India is importing 3.84 million barrels of oil monthly from Iran. They dont have fear of sanctions. Why is Pakistan shuddering in fear ? Probably Indians are stuffing suitcases with dollars and sending them to Iran as payment for oil !!!

India oil imports from Iran jump sharply in 2014 - Economic Times

India & Pakistan are different nations with different capabilities

Your pipeline argument does not stand since Turkey is buying Iranian gas via a pipeline.

There is no need to make excuses, Iran knows that Pakistan can not come up with political courage necessary for this deal. Pakistan could go through with this if it had pushed for a diplomatic waiver on this from US arguing that Pakistan needs energy for 190 million people suffering from chronic energy shortages and its disastrous effects on its economy. After all US needs Pakistan on its side in Afghanistan, the same way Turkey got a waiver for its gas import.

At any rate, a few billion dollars of gas sale, won't change economic situation of Iran. If there is any long term loss, it is going to be Pakistan's. How is the gas/electricity/fuel situation in Pakistan? Any improvement lately or expected in this decade?

Iran Pakistan gas pipeline is against the interests of Saudi Arabia. As Saudi Arabia is the biggest charity donor to Pakistan, the interests of Saudi Arabia are more dear to Pakistani politicians and the army then the long term interests of their own country. The rulers of Pakistan (both civilian and military) are only interested in some quick cash which the "friendly" countries like Saudi Arabia occasionally provide. Around a year ago Pakistani politicians from opposition parties were asking the government to tell the people of Pakistan why Saudi Arabia has transferred $ 1.5 billion to Islamabad as no country does this favour without any reason. Here is the reason why the money was transferred.

Saudi grant kills Iran-Pakistan pipeline
