In 2009, Boeing and Insitu announced the NightEagle, a modified ScanEagle Block E with an infrared camera for night operations.
In August 2010, Boeing announced plans to control ScanEagles from control stations on E-3A AWACS aircraft and on the V-22.
In July 2011, a team of two ScanEagles and another UAV cooperated to search and navigate a mountain area autonomously.
On 18 March 2008, Boeing, with ImSAR and Insitu successfully flight-tested a ScanEagle with ImSAR's NanoSAR A radar mounted aboard. The ImSAR NanoSAR is the world's smallest Synthetic Aperture Radar, weighs two pounds and is roughly the size of a shoe box. It is designed to provide high quality real-time ground imaging through adverse weather conditions or other battlefield obscurants.

Israeli regime’s US-made F-16 warplane engines stolen !!! 
Israeli media say unknown thieves have stolen several US-made engines for Israeli F-16 warplanes from an airbase in the central occupied territories.
The media reported on Thursday that preliminary findings from police investigation indicated that either military or civilian personnel within the airbase might have assisted the thieves.
The Israeli military suspected that the engines might have been stolen to be sold as scrap metal, the media said. However, it is still unclear when the thefts took place and no suspects have been arrested so far.
Israeli sources said that official reports on the investigation into the matter would be sent to the military prosecutor. The sources have refused to further comment on the issue.
In a similar incident last year, the Israeli military police conducted an investigation after parts for F-15 and F-16 warplanes belonging to an airbase near Tel Aviv were found when police searched a warehouse used by scrap metal merchants.

Iran will take legal action against US for drone incursion: Salehi
Iran has vowed to take legal action against the United States at international courts for violating the Islamic Republic’s airspace over the Persian Gulf.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Tuesday that the US ScanEagle drone, which had been captured by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) upon entering the country’s airspace over the Persian Gulf waters, would be used as evidence against the US at international courts, IRNA reported.
“We had formally protested such actions by the US and had announced that we would defend our borders by any means possible,” Salehi said.
“We had told the Americans that according to international conventions, we would not allow them to violate our borders, but unfortunately they did not comply.... Of course, we had objected to the Americans before, but they claimed they were not present in our territories. We will use this drone as evidence to file a legal case against the US invasion at relevant international bodies,” he added.
Earlier in the day, IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi announced that the drone had been captured over the past few days.
Iran has released footage of the captured drone, which is a long-endurance aircraft manufactured by Insitu, a subsidiary of Boeing.
According to a report published by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, Washington “has significantly stepped up spying operations” on the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran “over the past two months.”
On November 9, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said the Iranian military repelled an unidentified aircraft, which had entered the country’s airspace “above the territorial waters of the Islamic Republic in the Persian Gulf.”
On December 4, 2011, Iran announced that an electronic warfare unit of the Iranian armed forces took control of a US RQ-170 spy drone, which was flying over the northeastern Iranian city of Kashmar, forcing it to land on the Iranian territory after taking control of its navigation system.

Iran has the ability to decode the captured US spy drone’s information and to study and implement its technology in the country’s future projects, an analyst tells Press TV.
“It’s quite clear that the computer codes of the United States armed forces have been compromised, which is why Iran is able to hack into them and bring them down in one piece and then study them for further developments,” columnist and political commentator Nader Mokhtari told Press TV Tuesday.
IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi announced on Tuesday that a US spy drone had been captured by Iranian forces over the Persian Gulf upon its violation of the Iranian airspace.
Mokhtari hailed Iran’s ability to capture the drone, saying, “This is a major, major loss for the US armed forces and US technological advancement in the field.”
The ScanEagle drone, which has a 10ft (3m) wingspan, is a long-endurance aircraft built by Insitu, a subsidiary of Boeing, and uses the world’s smallest aperture radar, NanoSAR.
“If that [NanoSAR] is, which most definitely it is, onboard this UAV [unmanned aerial vehicle], then it makes this catch very, very important because small aperture radars are a specialty of the US. The technology’s highly advanced and it will come in handy for Iran, for sure, for all sorts of new things,” Mokhtari added.
Earlier in December 2011, the Iranian military also grounded a US RQ-170 spy aircraft while it was flying over the Iranian city of Kashmar, some 140 miles (225 km) from the Afghan border.
The US RQ-170 spy drone was downed with minimal damage by the Iranian Army's electronic warfare unit. The drone was one of America's most advanced spy aircraft.
Mokhtari also slammed Washington for its repeated “illegal” violation of Iranian airspace, saying it’s against international law to spy on other countries using drones.
