A350 has the same purpose of A380. future will tell us how many we really needed, specially with current contract which even includes man power! and practically returned us back to Shah era.
but if you had read the article, you would realize it's not about buying them. It's about pride, in Ahmadinejad our pride was launching Satellites to space, but in Rohani era our pride is a memorial picture with an A-350 which Its company has allowed to land in Tehran for 2 hours. that's the Disaster.
there is a reason that Mr Rohani doesn't dare to publicize his contracts for people.

Mohsen jan,
Just like yourself, I'd like to see Iran launch one satellite every day. But the fact is space industry is on the verge of being commercialized or become what you can profit from. Until that day, any country that is working on space projects is just throwing money at it for hope of a return on future.
However, given the situation of Iran, we don't have any excess money to spend on everything we want. Our young work force need work. The industry needs a boost. Given this situations, satellites are the last thing we really need.
A renovated fleet for Iran air, will make it profitable again. There was a day when Iran Air was the airline of choice in whole region and even for some destinations in Europe. Given this new fleet, the strategic location of Iran, cheap energy and work force, Iran Air can start to become one of the top airliners in the world.
Here is what an airliner can do to help a country economy:

Last year, Emirate Airlines had a profit of $1.5 billion. This is what our country needs. Successful corporations that put our talented workforce to work and generate tax income for the country. Then that excess money can be invested into satellites or whatever you call pride.
I don't want to argue with you. I just want to help you feel better about all these developments as you should. I don't doubt Ahmadinezhad's sincere intentions but as we say a wise enemy is better than a fool friend. He ruined Iran's economy.
I personally think this government is on the right track. From its military to civilian procurement, all of them are nice moves.
