LANDIKOTAL: The Pak-Afghan border at Torkham was closed for all forms of transportation on Tuesday as Afghan officials and security forces prevented the installation of barbed wire by Pakistan, The Express Tribune has learnt.

“The situation turned tense when Pakistani authorities began installing barbed wires,” an official said. “This was done to control people from crossing the border.”

Khyber Rifles Commandant Colonel Tariq Hafeez and Assistant Political Agent Rahimullah Mehsud rushed to the site along with heavy contingents of security forces. They entered into negotiations with Afghan Police Commander Zabihullah Shinwari. However, the negotiations were futile.

Authorities at Torkham said unless work on the installation of barbed wires was not resumed, they will not reopen the border.

On the contrary, Afghan officials said they would not allow the installation on the border.

Pakistan maintains the wires will be installed as part of the National Action Plan – such that ‘miscreants’ from Afghanistan are unable to enter the country.

Due to closure of the border, a large number of vehicles, loaded with mostly edibles and fuel, were stranded in Pakistan and Afghan.

Border officials from both the countries denied entries to those travelling with valid documents. The stranded people included a large number of women and children.

thank god its happening lets wire and mine the whole god damn border.they have no right to stop us its our land we can do whatever we want with it. show them the middle finger.

.
What's their issue? If we are implementing border control then who are they to say no. They whine and whine about terrorists coming from our end but when we close borders they object. There is a very good chance these afghan police are actually involved with ttp and want to make sure their movements are kept unchecked.

.
Hit them if they ever do something against us. We have right to do whatever it takes to secure our border. Afghan's opposition is unbelievable.

Ab yeh auqat hogai hai hamari k afghani b humey pressurize karney ki koshish kar rahe hain.

Pakistanis!!! go ahead dammit. No one will respect you if you submit to Afghanistan.

MINE THE BORDER.....We are doing it on our land and if they try to attack us, we will make sure they forget all invasions happened so far to their land.:angry:

LANDI KOTAL: Tension over a fencing dispute continued to grip the Torkham border crossing on Wednesday as it remained shut for the second day and Pakistan and Afghanistan deployed additional forces and armoured personnel carriers on both sides of the border.

Routine cross-border movement remained suspended except some dead bodies along with a few mourners being allowed passage to Afghanistan.

Thousands of Afghan and Pakistani nationals, who remained stranded at the border on Tuesday, returned to their native places after losing hope of reopening of the border.

With the border closure, markets, offices of customs clearing agents and restaurants were closed and thin attendance was witnessed at the offices of customs and the local administration. The taxi stand at the border crossing also gave a deserted look.

Informed sources at the border told Dawn that there was no contact between the officials concerned of the two countries on border reopening.

Pakistani officials insisted that the border would remain closed till the Afghan government withdrew objection to the laying of barbed wire on Pakistan side of the border and gave an assurance about helping Pakistan in halting cross-border illegal movement of Afghan nationals.

“We were quite within our limits of our side of the border (while laying barbed wire),” an administration official said while referring to Afghan border guards raising objection to the act leading to closure of the border on Tuesday, again. This was reminiscent of a similar situation witnessed a couple of weeks ago.

“The purpose of fencing the border is to plug illegal and secret border crossing points,” he said.

The official dispelled the impression that there was any possibility of a clash between border guards of the two countries and said that additional forces had been deployed to control sudden rush of passengers when the border was reopened.

However, he said, it was now the Afghan government’s turn to fulfil its obligation by withdrawing objection to the fencing of the ‘secret’ routes along the border and ensuring implementation of the border management policy agreed between the two countries.

Bomb the fuckers if they dont allow the fencing. Where is the FUcking US of A who shouts from the roof top asking Pakistan to check illegal border crossing by the talibans? This is us keeping a check, its time you either put up or shut up.

.
Similar to how Pakistanis objected to LoC fencing...
LOC if you notice explains all....
But some miserable piece of shyt fail to understand that its not a working boundary but world's recognized disputed territory

On this topic
Increase troop presence and have border forces on high alert.
Keep the border closed, seal all entry exit points to Afghanistan in protest of this incident. Let the perishables perish, and now demand they put barb wire on their side also.
Snub all contact for next few days.
Tell Afghan President that Afghan border forces want secret routes into Pakistan to continue their illegal smuggling of people and goods.
Similar to how Pakistanis objected to LoC fencing...
are you really that thick or are you trolling?? do you understand what LOC means, and what a border and it have in difference. Or was that just a cheap shot to throw in there....
