Industry seeks ‘Made in Pakistan’ electric vehicles

Pakistan can make 100% parts for the electric cars. Just that reducing the recharging time is trickiest thing I believe.
The trickiest parts are battery cells. You need very expensive plants to make cells at scale. The recharge time should be by far not the issue if the vehicle itself is small enough. If you look for a better Mehran replacement, a 600kg vehicle will just fly with just one fifth of the battery size of, say, Tesla model S.

The only reason auto manufacturers push for these things is that they dont want people to IMPORT cars. They want people to buy cars from them at INSANE prices.
Pakistani auto manufacturers are greedy and selfish.

Pakistan is in a very unfortunate place due to its location. With China and India around you, the best thing this industry can do is to catch up with the own market. At least try to catch up with the electric vehicle glut and design cars instead of wasted licensing. You are not developing a 5th generation warplane, its just a car.

The problem isn't location, Problem is Heavily monopolized manufacture.. They don't want to compete. They don't want to invest, they simply want to put it together and sell it at highest markups possible.

Y'all got some highways paved through CPEC and EV's are great for paved roads. Tata Nexon EV is among the highest selling EVs' in India with a pretty good range. Not just reviews from auto enthusiasts but my friends said it was great as well

Also, folks in bigger cities like Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore wouldn't travel in rough terrains everyday and it should be a good alternative for urban commute which'll eventually pave the way for development of electric charging infrastructure
I test drove a nexon ev and really loved it.
But its a 2nd car for most as the 200 km actual range precludes intercity travel.
But for everyday driving of 100 to 150 km , its perfect .
No noise, great acceleration and Rs 1 per km cost of driving as compared to Rs 5 to 7 of petrol.

If a cheaper EV design become available then i believe people will adopt it. For now we should try to introduce Electric motor bikes and rickshaws which populate our roads the most. It should be an easy endeavour for our industry as we have a good base to manufacture two wheelers. As for running cars and trucks on electricity we should wait untill tech matures enough to be available at cheap rates. Our foucs until then should be on hybrid vehicles which is a more mature tech. We can at least adopt a policy to replace 1300cc and 1800cc cars with hybrid model considering they are already out of normal persons reach any way.
1.5 million electric rickshaws on Indian roads.
Pakistan must be having similar small rickshaws ?
Hybrids are of mainly 2 type,
Plug in hybrid, where you can charge the car from a external supply for some short distance , like prius for 40 km.
Or the fake hybrids like the one i have at home, which switch off the engine at traffic lights and other idling moments. The car switches to a second battery in idling. Not a real hybrid. This battery is charged through the alternator.
Hybrids are not as popular because the added weight of a engine and battery pack, reduces the efficiency

Is there enough bijli in Pakistan for electric vehicles?

As far as I am aware there isn't enough bijli for light-bulbs, heating in winter and fans in summer never mind the electric vehicles.

I drive a Nissan leaf, it's as good as any internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle. I get over 300 kms per day, which means average person can do pretty much same driving they were doing before and not worry about charging it..I Charge the car at night, roughly 2 hours (charging speeds depends on the kind of charger you use) to get 80 % charged

Gas savings alone worth the buy not to mention you don't pollute much plus no oil changes, no tune ups and no worries what the price of gas is..

The main benefit of a hybrid car is regeneration, and thus better efficiency from gasoline.
Complete nonsense.
Hybrids advantage is that you arnt range restricted as in a pure ev.

Electric motors are super easy to do. Basically you only need a lot of copper (which Pakistan has in abundance in Baluzhistan,) and electric steel, which Pakistan already makes. Everything else is very basic metalworking like sandcasting, and simple machining.
Pakistan makes GO and NGO steel ? Great to know.
The heart of a electric car is
Batteries, 30 to 40 % cost of car. Mostly variants of li ion nowadays, with phosphorus, cadmium, etc.
Motor.
Controller.

And the expertise to make the vehicle all weather. You are in a electric car. And flooded streets are commonly in our cities. You can do the maths.

LFP batteries can operate up to +55 without downrating. The biggest problem with them is actually cold. Charging at <10C kills them very quickly.

motor heat or will it be water cooled.

I.C.E unites will also fail to operate on flooded streets unless modified. The benefits of E.V out weight any conventional vehicle by far.
