Indonesia prepares to host 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup

One of Indonesia talented young player, Derrick Michael, 17 years old, 205 cm. He is African mix blooded and will be very helpful if he can improve his shoot and dribble and then play in power forward position. Indonesian national basketball team has already got two capable center with 209 and 205 centimeter high, but the team strength will be boosted if we have forward above 200 centimeter, currently our power forward players only have 195 cm height.

He is part of national team but he hasnt been part of team that play in FIBA Asia Cup window two in Dubai in December. We will see whether coach will give him opportunity to play at FIBA Asia Cup window three in Philippine. It will be interesting to see current team to play against Philippine and South Korea.

When he played in High school competition, he used to play in Center position but after he join national team there is attempt to make him play in power forward and improve his dribble and shot.

This is when he played one on one with one of Indonesian professional basketball player, Kelly Purwanto, who play in guard position.

Derrick Michael is part of 12 players that will be played in third window, this February, in Qatar. Philippine cancels its hosting right due to on going pandemic.

Muhammad Sandi Ibrahim, 188 cm, 24 years old, join the team. He is the new guy in the team.

The game in window three Asia Fiba Cup Qualification will be started in 18 February. For the mean time I will post Indonesia vs Taiwan national 3x3 team competing in FIBA Asia Cup 2019.

Maybe, actually one of my neighbor married Indonesian female shiah, by looking to his wife feature I can say she has middle eastern feature. My parent home town in West Sumatra according to history was Shia follower as well, but turn into Sunni follower. Even Assura festival is still being held every year in Pariaman region, West Sumatra.

The Philippines will host the third and final window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers after all. It's just a matter of when.

FIBA announced late Friday, February 12 that the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) will host two groups barely a day after Qatar pulled out of hosting the third window due to its rising coronavirus cases.
"Fixing the dates of the 'windows to be created' under this unexpected and unordinary situation will still need about 10 days to be finalized," FIBA Asia executive director Hagop Khajirian said in a statement.

This is because PP Perbasi has obtained a permit to build a venue for this prestigious event in the basketball world. This was said by the Secretary General of PP Perbasi, Nirmala Dewi. Basketball World Cup, Indonesia Builds New Venue

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia - The Indonesian government will build a new venue for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup (FIBA World Cup) because Indonesia does not yet have a stadium that meets the standards.

Chairman of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) Danny Kokasih said the venue construction would be carried out in Jakarta according to FIBA standards. Currently, Jakarta only has a venue at Istora Senayan with a capacity of no more than 7,200 people.

"The venue is the FIBA standard of 8,000. The current Istora can only be 7,200, it hasn't been used for media, 2,000 seats could be lost. There are only 5,000 left, we can't use it," Danny said at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (18/2).

According to President Joko Widodo's direction during a limited meeting, said Donny, the plan is to build a new venue for the 2023 Basketball World Cup. The venue will be able to accommodate a capacity of 15,000 to 20,000 people. Danny hopes that the new venue can be used in early 2023.

"Earlier, the President promised to build a new venue. We asked for a capacity of around 15,000-20,000. Hopefully the building will be ready in early 2023. We will chase for two years," said Danny.

For the accommodation of the 2023 Basketball World Cup participants, the plan will be to place them in a number of hotels in the Senayan area such as Hotel Mulia and Fairmont. This consideration was also taken because of its location close to public facilities such as malls and hospitals.

"We use Mulia and Fairmont hotels. Then we think there are malls, hospitals, everything in Senayan. We just don't have enough venues," said Danny.
