The Chinese were as quick as usual delivering 3 ships in 4 , the Pakistani KS&EW took time since it was the first time they were developing a modern frigate ..

FL-3000N

FL-3000N / HHQ-10 Missile CIWS Air Defense System

The FL-3000N is the export designation of the HHQ-10 short-range Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) Air Defense System and developed by China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC).

The FL-3000N is designed to protect ships against saturation attacks and is very similar to Raytheon's RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM). Both subsonic and supersonic threats can be engaged as well as multiple, highly maneuverable or sea-skimming targets simultaneously.

The fire-and-forget missiles contain a dual Passive Radio Frequency and Imaging Infra-Red seeker for guidance. Missiles can be launched at intervals of three seconds and lock on after launch. The HHQ-10 system has been installed on the Liaoning aircraft carrier and Type 056 class corvettes.

Impressive. it lacks a potent and long range SAM though. I hope next ones will have upgraded SAM.

Navy is not getting enough Funds. There should be plans to modernize all F-22Ps at some stage as all PN assets are important enough to keep in parity with neighboring Navies but don't see it happening in next couple of Years.

Well delays also take place in Pakistan but the main factor is Funds are promised and never provided that goes into the pockets of GOP. 13% increase in up coming Pakistan defense budget 2013-2014 and I am sure Army is getting more again.

It will be a sitting duck whe attacked by aircraft or missiles.

dont worry. its a good point defence system will be more than enough for close quick reaction attack.

Thats enough for point defence. Its a mulipurpose ship, so we dont need to expect long range SAMs.

Furthermore, the PN is not a blue water navy, its ships dont need to operate far away from its coast lines.

actually their concern is right and PN was too concerned coz of that thats why a long range SAM was demanded with further upgraded capabilities maybe FN-90? in further 6? F-23Ps with TOT so these F-22s would too be upgraded to F-23Ps standard in future at present there is not any much threat of war and in future ilI too hope for best……ツ

A step forward for PAK ship building and defence industry. PAK should focus on heavy industry and ship building as these things give rise to many high tech spin off industries. They should now try to design a frigate of corvette indigenously within a realistic feasible time frame. Indigenizations always reaps fruit in the long run no matter how bothersome and costly in the short term.

PN can't dump funds there… Their plans to aquire 6-8 subs and 4 covertees and 4-6 mire F-23Ps is on table and they are shorten of funds already so thats more than a risk to take currentely maybe they can create oatrol boats at home if needed

the discussion was done on the upgrade of SAM system to a long range VlS plus better CWIS weapons induction of BABUR and lowering of radar and IR signature .
