First of all , why the cherry picking? Why not look at the fact that in Karnataka Muslims have more than their % population share of Govt jobs? Abt the prison situation in Maharashtra, you know that many muslims in mumbai were and are part of the underworld? That most muslim immigrants to mumbai are from western UP, the crime infested part of India? Or facts are of little importance against failed ideologies?

The film industry in mumbai also has a vast representation of muslims, hence hindus are discriminated against in india?

Maharashtra is technically in the South. Yes, it is also a Western state in India, like Gujarat, Punjab, Rajashtan are. I think it would be more apt to call Maharashtra a South West Indian state.

Bulk of Muslims in west bengal have been added to OBC list recently, that would help them to increase their representation in Govt jobs. It should have been done before but you should know the complication of implementing quota for Muslims according to caste system.

Just for clarification: OBC stands for Other Backward Class not Caste. In West Bengal, the OBC reservation for Muslims is available to only certain Muslim sects, ostensibly covering the bulk, which are classified as backward class. These are Jolah (Ansari-Momin), Fakir/Sain, Hawari, Dhunia, Patidar, Kasai, Nashya-Sekh, Pahadia, Rayeen/Kunjra, Shershabadia, Hajjam, Chowduli, Beldar, Khotta, Sardar (Muslim), Nikari, Mahaldar, Dhukre, Basni/Bosni, Abdal, Kan, Tutia, Gayen, Bhatia (Muslim), Molla, Biswas (Muslim), Haldar (Muslim), Mandal (Muslim), Dafadar (Muslim) etc. [Note that many of these are last names which are common among Hindus]

The cream of Bengali Muslims migrated to Bangladesh, and cream of East Bengali Hindus migrated to West Bengal (by 'cream' I mean educated middle/upper-middle class). Historically Bengali Hindus were more educated, particularly in Queen's language, and as an inevitable result, occupied the upper echelon of Govt. jobs. This virtual monopoly of Bengali Hindus over govt. jobs, professions etc. led to the demand of concession/reservation for Muslims, and finally, a demand for separate Muslim state. Irony is that, when Pakistan was formed, Bengali Muslims became even more weak, because the brightest of them had moved to East.

The bolded part is false. Muslims are also UNDERREPRESENTED in Karnataka.
