There is a difference between armed force representation, and representation in other fields of life. The people that belong to the 'martial races' (like Marathis, Sikhs) will have a higher preference over other races in the armed forces.

The difference of underrepresentation is still too significant, even considering the difference of educational levels between Indian Muslims and other communities. You have to be decent at Math to understand that. I'll give you a certain example:
While West Bengal has 25% Muslim population, only 4.2% are employed in state services. Even if the Muslims of West Bengal are slightly less educated than other communities, the underrepresentation at the state level is still too significant.
West Bengal: 25/4.2 = 5.95 or (595% underrepresentation)
In West Bengal, 62% of Muslims are educated. The national average of India is 65%. Even if the average education % of non-Muslim Indians in West Bengal was 70-75%, the Muslims are still heavily discriminated against, which results in the extreme underrepresentation. I hope you understand the statistics. Otherwise, I'll have to bombard you with more calculations.
Bulk of Muslims in west bengal have been added to OBC list recently, that would help them to increase their representation in Govt jobs. It should have been done before but you should know the complication of implementing quota for Muslims according to caste system.
Anyway, West Bengal is the last place where Muslims get discriminated against so you're shooting at wrong target.
that's what you see in job selection overall in india according to the datas.
No, that's not what I see for Indian Muslims in India. I have given you plenty of statistical evidence that proves that.
i have proved my point with data showing only 4% muslims hold a diploma or degree compared to national average of 7% which clearly puts other community qualified more than double in percentage.higher educations is what needed for jobs..when you have so much people qualified than you you will hardly get any job.
And I have proven to you through simple mathematical calculation, that even including this aspect, there is severe underrepresentation and systematic discrimination by the state against Indian Muslims. Now I'm convinced you're poor at Math.
Ironically, West Bengal reported 0 (zero) percent of Muslims in higher positions in its Public Sector Units (PSU's)!
Oh that is because Bengali Muslims couldn't compete with their Hindu counterparts, Bengali Hindus have a long history of bettering others in competitive exams while Bengali Muslims historically shunned western education system. Regretfully there was no Syed Ahmed Khan in Bengal.
Also partition resulted in migration of Muslim elites in newly formed countries(which is more true for North India).
So this means that this reason is valid for the 0% (ZERO, not 1-2%) representation of Indian Bengali Muslims at the higher levels of PSU's, despite being 25% of the total population of West Bengal?
Partition left a void in North India and Bengal which was occupied by crazy religious freaks who don't care for education.
Muslims in South India doing just as fine as Hindus in all layers of society just because they don't have the legacy of partition.
