US Hesitates to Supply Fighter Jet Engines for India's Tejas: What's Next?

. .
What Indians fail to realise is that they'll have to pay for American goodies in both dollar and blood on the Sino-Indian border. India sold its soul in 2006 to get access to the American gear. The cost will be very high.

Forget about LCA, if this news is true, they can forget AMCA and that weird af dual engine Tejas they've been trying to build.

Oh well, Indians are still thrilled that US will help India to build armoured vehicles...... To counter China.

I didn't know Stryker would help them win their coming war against China. PLA is networked from the company level to corps level. The losses Indian Army will take will be horrendous. For Americans that works just fine.

the 2 currently operational squadrons are already more than enough to bomb all your underwear stitching and waltanatan factory economy to oblivion.

According to estimates, Tejas has a hot combat radius of 300km (+/-). At this rate, it won't be bombing anything in Pakistan, it will be used in point defense roles.

So its now become 300 km from 500 km? what next it can't even fly? I know its called Samosa here, but its fine it works for us.

GE has already supplied about 75+ engines so far

The follow on order for some 90+ F404 were supposed to start coming in, from Aug of this year. Its not that odd to see delivery delays, and Blinken along with Lloyd Austin are in India right now. Am sure the topic will be brought up

Am just wondering as to what soul did we sell in 2006, that you were mentioning above. Care to elaborate please?

500 or something it far less than of our jf17 which has combat radius of 1300 km

And its takes years to develop tactics against PAF using Tej@$$

Don't think its developed as a medium weight fighter, like f-16

Its a light weight fighter, created for pointe defense much like mig 21. To replace mig 21

First attempt to create something of a aerospace sector wrt combat aircraft

Don't think its bad overall

Tejas has been inducted for some years now, am sure our AF hasn't worked on Mk1A and gave 83 initial and now another 97 additional order, without understanding the aircraft's limitations. So they will be working on the tactics for sure

Bhai - producing armored vehicles is not exactly rocket science.

They are capable of it - I'm sure their Tata and Mahindra do already.

However - these kinds of JV deals will only help the US Army with parts commonality I'm sure if $hit hits the fan in lower Tibet.

Blowing up sweat shops would hardly be an accomplishment! I wouldn't brag about killing a pinata with a Bazooka.

You should be more concerned about F-16s, J-10Cs and, of course, JF-17s. Sure, Samosa has a slight edge over JF17s in air maneuverability but it's the pilot experience that counts! Specs sheets and numbers mean squat in the heat of battle.

Plus, the Tejas has a combat range of just 500KM and the closet IAF base to our border is Bathinda Air Force Base, which is ~75 KMs away.

In comparison, JF17s have a combat radius of well over 1,300 KMs.

Go figure!

Did they say why?

Apparently, South Korea comes before India in the eyes of Uncle Sam!

The jf17 program is inspired by gripen project not f16 project but it has a elements from f16 and point defense fighter don't uses BVR to fight
