Because dharmic immigrants (hindus,buddhists etc) have nowhere else to go apart from India which is their natural homeland whereas muslims immigrants have more than 50 islamic countries to choose from.
Muslim immigrants are changing demography ,culture and are involved in illegal activities including terrorism.
Besides India is a poor over populated country which is hell for muslims i m sure once we throw them in detention centers and eventually deport them ,they will be better off in their heavenly rich bangladesh.

No, they won't be "thrown out".....Mostly cosmetic actions will be taken and that's it.

This has been happening since decades. indian state is too weak and fragile to do anything seriously about the demographic increase of Islam in india.

india will be 20%-25% Muslim, and there's nothing much you can do about it.

Bangladesh went from 22% Hindu to 8% hindu....and didn't even flinch. While conquered, dominated, and losers-of-history indians just keep talking talking and talking about issues for decades with no actual on the ground progress. The best part for you is under-stating the Muslim count in Census to show some 'progress' and soothe the beaten and humiliated souls of hindus. I'm sure Modi govt will do something similar...

But anybody living in india could just easily feel the presence of Muslims and do nothing much about it.

Very strange that the Economist chose to put up the picture of a Hindu woman in an article published to highlight the supposed plight of the muslims.
