What's new

Indians throwing dead bodies to the Ganges as they are unable to cremate them!

. .
This is a reflection of how the government has handled this corona crisis.

. .
Please stop the propaganda.
This is part of the Clean Ganga Project by Modi.
Wrong, this id
speechless...

lack of vaccine, lack of oxygen, lack of cremation ground, lack of wood. What would be the next one?

Apparently, nothing could be more important to the face of Modi. NOTHING.

My worry is a breakdown of the food supply chain.
Wow. Ganges becoming a source of COVID.
Bangladeshis should worry. Maybe Farrakha Barrage might finally have one good use for BD.
This tradition of throwing dead bodies is there only in UP....it is considered that the dead will attain heaven if their bodies are thrown in ganga..it was widely practised once upon a time in UP but in recent times it has reduced due to strict measures from govt.
UP, Bihar , Bengal , MP, chattisgarh, orissa are a different world from the rest of india.
Its really sad there is a lot of disparity between states that belong to the same country.
Are you trying to rationalize and justify a totally inhuman situation.

I love watching crime movies/series and reading novels of the same genre. One thing is always there - somebody kills somebody and dumps the body either in grave or sea or river. In case of rivers, they always have to find some smart ways so that body doesn't start floating. And yet they do. This is where the law enforcement comes in.Here comes a detective, some photographer for the police dept. , some forensic guy, some media guys too. A lot of detective work. A lot of investigation. A lot of obstacles. A lot fear and panic among local population. Etc etc etc.....

Then there is India and their holy Ganga river and corpses....

I have no idea what to make of it. Because they simply defy logic and any common sense.

exactly. It makes 0 sense to any sensible person. If Gange is your holy river then why throw your dead corpes and defacate into it?

now some indian will make a claim that whats holy is “subjective” and that defacating/corpes are also holy :D

I'm not sure about the funeral rites within mainstream Hindu religion, but is it possible to temporarily bury the bodies?

Also the people here that are using this tragedy to score brownie points are sick and demented.

I was vilified on this forum for coining the term "Gangu" or Gangadesh. You can see why. Some of the worldly wise Indians know that the "indus" carries cache which is why they latch on to Indus even when it does not run through India proper. Most Indians are half thousand miles distan from it and never seen or set foot near it. But you will get this type crying out "Indus, Indus Valley" when we all know that river is the spine of Pakistan. It is our Nile. Without it we would dry up and starve as a country.

India actually is a Ganga culture, dominated by Ganga Basin. It forms central plank to their faith and religion. It is endemic to their culture as can be seen. They pray to the Ganga. They wah their souls in the Ganga. And they dispose of their dead in the Ganga. Ganga is the crucible of India.

But as I said historically and generally Ganga does not have any cache. So the Indian's desperately try to conjoin the Ganga basin with Indus Basin. Do me a favour. Google Indus Basin and chances are you will get Indo-Gangetic basin. Meaning Indus dash Ganga.
