What's new

Indians throwing dead bodies to the Ganges as they are unable to cremate them!

The absence of my fellow indians on this thread and forum for the past few weeks shows how ashamed we are about the present situation.
Only in UP???

Over 100 bodies thrown in Bihar

They came from UP...regardless of from where they are its a shame to us.

Dead corpses floating in the most holy river of Hindu religion. What a special way to pay respect to the deceased and the holy river.

Man, how badly and terribly India got exposed during this pandemic is simply put indescribable. There is no escape from this.

Wrong, this id

My worry is a breakdown of the food supply chain.

Bangladeshis should worry. Maybe Farrakha Barrage might finally have one good use for BD.

Are you trying to rationalize and justify a totally inhuman situation.
I am not rationalising but UP people are backward..they have some barbaric traditions...i found the following on quora.
People give away their bodies after death to the river ecosystem. It is truly a noble thing to do. However, since the people who donate their bodies are mainly poor, the ‘educated’ and upper class people call them names. If a rich person donates his body after death to the eagles or other birds of prey, they will be revered. But an act of generosity from the poor is considered awful. Also, foreigners get too much respect in India.
I would definitely support river cremation or jal samadhi as it is rightfully called. I believe it feeds the flora and fauna of the river and helps improve its fertility. Only thing I would add is a request to anyone there to remove clothes from the bodies before let it go. Clothes may clog the river and could cause some damage.

sympathy for the common man, but why modi or any BJP ministers not resigned
Last thing the country needs right now is a Government change in the middle of a pandemic. Agreed that the handling of covid by Modi government was poor but this is not the time to resign.

They're not ashamed. One quick glance at the state of affairs in India will tell you they're doing the same violent chimp politics as usual. The Indians who post here can't delude themselves and us with their spicy masala propaganda news articles from TimesNowOpIndiaToday24/7TV because their own family members are now suffering so they're waiting for everything to blow over. I guarantee that in 1 month they'll be back claiming that India successfully crushed Covid Jihad by evil Tableeghis and that the casualty count is Western propaganda.

The reason why this is happening is because of the lack of cremation facilities and exorbitant price to cremate the dead. The price of wood has increased tremendously and so have the rate of the Brahmin priests.

In one city in UP, the Brahmin priests who were charging Rs 2200, were now charging in excess of Rs 30,000.
Why don't they just bury the bodies with dignity instead of throwing them in the river to bloat and fester.

Poor belt! Improper information about COVID to rural people.
Cant afford proper cremation! Wood prices through the roof, priests charging nearly 20000-30000rs (300-400usd)
