No they can't. Just like Muslims cant eat pork.
Being Hindu is not dependent on not eating meat.
Ergo, they can.

Hang on. I realise there are other solutions, e.g. postal delivery of cat food. That is not the debate here. The point is a court of law didn't suggest some alternative, nor did they say get the cat food at the same time as other items.
The point is the court ruled that he could go out for cat food as to stay in and make meat would compromise his religious belief. The court gave an exception to lockdown on the basis of his Hindu or Jain faith.
Your chanakiya won't work here.
Are you listening? If there is an emergency need to eat pork, Muslims can do so. Certain medcines come in porcine suspension. It is permitted to take those medicines for Muslims if there's no alternative. This is common knowledge. No they can't. Just like Muslims cant eat pork.

Presumably, he can't get the cat food at the local store. Otherwise this issue wouldn't have arisen to begin with. Presumably he was flagged up for making a special long distance trip for the cat food. Hence we ended up in court.May be postal delivery of cat food isn't available in that area. Alternatives might have been discussed in court, we dont know how the court proceedings went. In any case, since people are allowed to go to grocery stores for food any way, cat food isnt a big deal, so the court allowed it.

Some Hindus eat meat, many other don't due to religious reasons. Like I am a brahmin, I eat meat but my family doesn't even touch. I know it's a very big deal for them. For that reason, i am never even allowed to eat meat at home. I can only eat outside.
Well I'm happy for the cat....but worried for India. This was not such a serious emergency mate, as I said people are going to groceries in any case, so they can be allowed to go to get cat food. If it was a complete shutdown and no one was allowed to step out at all, then the situation might be different.
But you still remain a Hindu right despite your dietary habits right?
Therefore, those vegetarians that invoke the "religion" clause to justify their aversion, are doing it as a personal preference, and not a religious mandate. Ergo, do not use religion to justify.

Many Hindus do consider it as dharm bhrasht. You might have heard that term. You also have to look at it in the context of people being allowed to go get groceries anyway.
Oh it isn't Covid that will destroy India. It's India that will destroy India. Many Hindus do consider it as dharm bhrasht. You might have heard that term. You also have to look at it in the context of people being allowed to go get groceries anyway.
Dont' worry we'll be fine. We have been through tougher phases before. Much tougher.

I eat meat. But don't bring it home. Cooking it at home? Lol. That's a stretch.
Why are you condoning an exception to lockdown rules for Hindus?
