I was born in Mumbai (my mom's hometown).
My dad is from Kanpur, UP.
I grew up in Bihar (it became Jharkhand after I left ..... so for me, I would always say Bihar), growing up in Jamshedpur.
I have been living in Poona since 1989.
I have been a certified domicile of Maharashtra since 1999.
I speak Hindi (my National language), English, and Gujarati (my mother tongue).
I do not speak Marathi. I can understand it pretty well by now, but I do not speak it.
I do not see any reason or pressing compulsion to learn to speak it either.

That will be very expensive to divide India but easiest and cheapest way is you migrate to safe heaven for muslims China or Pakistan. And make sure you can speak Chinese otherwise some Chinese Raj Thakarey will beat you there.

Nobody claims to be a representative of the people...they get elected.The people of Maharashtra made the choice of electing this guy...knowing that he is a migrant from Lucknow and a hindi speaker.
So I am guessing that a vast majority of the marathis want better governance than a case for the marathi(language) cause....
It is their choice to have their elected reps speaking, legislating...farting in marathi....
but is the MNS trully a representative of the marathi people?
I am against an elective man getting beat-up for taking his oath in hindi, the national language of India.They could have protested...beating up a man of his stature shows the true colors of your maratha saviors.
Tamils have fought over statues,film stars and sheer bloated ego with the karnatkans...I don't support the karnatkans..and they are equally at fault...when you have an over-inflated cultural pride in you...you tend to pick up fights...
infact...who can forget the formation of Tamil separatists when rajiv gandhi ordered the IPKF into SL...!

Actually i don't blame you. The problems is with the Maharashtrians they should stop speaking in Hindi with others.
I have told many MNS/Sena workers the same thing. When they and their families go for shopping they start speaking in Hindi.
They sometimes find it surprising when i (Telugu) and my friends (Gujarati, Tamils, Biharis, etc.) speak only in Marathi with each other. And they speak in Hindi with others...

Thank you for your vote of confidence .... coz there is nothing to blame from where I sit.
People speak in Hindi coz not to do so would mean a breakdown in communication, work not getting done, and the only sufferers would be those clinging on to their clannish linguo-regionalistic dogmas.
No one does anyone a favor my friend. Take the non-marathi-manoos out of Mumbai and Poona FOR A DAY and see how long these cities would last.
And I am not talking only about taxi drivers and laborers here.

first of all ,in every indian state ,official work is done two languages ,one is the regional lang and the other one is english.
Naveen Patnaik spent most part of life in delhi and his mother was a punjabi woman.
Since he came to orissa after the death of his father Biju Patniak ,he has been trying learn oriya...and in the initial yrs ,his odia speech used to evoked amusement for odia listeners , and has made much progress with odia skills over ther years.
He never ever resorted to hindi ,calling it out national lang(wrongfully) or punjabi, his mother tongue and a legal lang of india.

Maharastrians speak in Hindi because for them it very easy to learn. But i don't think in south the locals will talk in Hindi. My Marathi Friends who have settled in Hyd. have started speaking in Telugu..
Have they told they want to kick non-marathi out of Mumbai & Pune ?
Many of the taxi drivers & laborers work for Marathi's..
