Indian LCA Tejas Or Pakistani JF-17: Who Is Winning The Malaysian Fighter Jet Contract?

Let them select whatever they want. Pakistan should Focus on jf-17 block 3 and clearly we need thrust vectoring. God knows what happens next between India and Pakistan. Even Feb. 27 was a close call. Sometimes long range missiles don't hit. You have to prepare for the dogfight and with no thrust vectoring, it's difficult. Time to think about advancing further. I think we should stop after block-3 and will make a new fighter jet, heavy fighter jet with thrust vectoring.
No no and no..... Trust vectoring will take apart this tiny bird.

HMDS will level out this playing field. This is where emphasis needs to be plus HOBS.

If they were fired far from the no escape zone, it's not surprising. And it was the case.
Yes, the AMRAAMs fired at the Su-30MKI were fired from D-MAX range. Looks like they were wary of getting closer to the MKIs and shot their AMRAAMs off too soon at ranges where the MKI was able to evade them.

They fired AMRAAMs not only at the Su-30MKI but at both the MiG-21s as well..the second MiG-21 Bison flown by Wing Cmdr Abhinandan's wingman turned nose cold and evaded an AMRAAM fired at him.

In all, 6 AMRAAMs were fired, 1 hit and 5 missed their targets.

All this from someone oblivious of the simple fact that Tejas took part in Republic Day Parades but suddenly he is a genius on PAF operations. Now dont end up eating yourself.

AMRAAMs weren't fired from D max range

The wingman was carrying the jamming pod. On mig21s I guess only one pod for a pair due to weight issue.

Kaiser Tufail has clearly brought it out in his blogspot about the air skirmish on that fateful day. No SU-30 was hit by any BVR.

http://kaiser-aeronaut.blogspot.com/ .

Excerpts from his article on his blogspot on the air skirmish.

“Meanwhile, the pair of patrolling Su-30s were completely shocked when they were targeted by an F-16 with an AIM-120 missile at long range. Narrowly surviving an apparent proximity hit, both Su-30s scampered out of the area, leaving the field to the Mirage 2000 pair.”

There is a dedicated thread on which it has been discussed in detail.

You live in a world of your own , dont you?
Listen to former IAF pilot

There’s some misconception here about AMRAAMs not performing optimally at high altitude. That’s where they will perform best, they loft incredibly high into thin air (less drag), that way they can maximise energy and then trade altitude for energy, and they’re not like aircraft that struggle with compression in thin air, they’re essentially just rockets. Struggle at high altitude? Meteor yes, maybe. But not AMRAAMs, not PL-15 etc. They’ll happily loft and go very far indeed the more energy and altitude you give them on launch.

I stand corrected. So 2 AMRAAMs were fired from within 30 km range and still the Su-30MKIs evaded them.

Since you believe the former IAF pilot so much, you too must believe that this validated the AMRAAM evasion tactics that the IAF's MKI pilots displayed. 5 AMRAAMs fired, all were evaded.

In fact, with AMRAAMs fired at less than 30 kms being evaded, I wonder why so much is made of the first shoot advantage. If those MKIs had been able to achieve firing solutions for the R-77s, the PAF F-16s would have also had to turn cold and evade them.
