Mr. civilian man, i wasn't sitting there watching things unfold. I am relying so far mostly on the same sources you are relying on to get the information in. And let it also be known that just because britisher attache in Pakistan said it, doesn't mean everything he said is 100% accurate. I'll believe what is told to me from the Pakistanis themselves since they were the ones that rectified the issue.
Dont be so harsh....It was fun to read such comments after boring day....:) (Btw speaks of the quality deterioration where a person with "senior member" tag making such type of "arguments for the sake of arguments")

The indians were spared because of the professional attitude of our forces, AN appears to be delusional.

After interrogation - and examination of the aircraft by Army and Air Force experts - story of the indian crew was confirmed, (it was carrying spare parts, for another indian aircraft) - it was refueled and sent back on it's way, it was escorted out of Pakistani airspace by Air Force fighters to the LOC.

Also can confirm that PAF was scrambled - when the Heli was picked up on the Radar network, heli was instructed to land, or otherwise be shot down. AWAC's were reportedly also involved.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~
More information - helicopter was being tracked from deep within IOK airspace, when it reached within a few kilometers of LOC, AWACS controllers on board - scrambled F7 fighters from - airbase (will not name it on an open forum) - heli was told to land at nearest air force base, a welcoming party was on the ground, apparently the occupants were terrified - (maybe because of their own sides propaganda) - Officers on ground took them into custody, weapons were in the hands of the soldiers but were not pointed at the prisoners.
They were then thoroughly de-briefed, while Army and Air Force officials examined the Heli with a fine tooth comb. After story was verified, situation was resolved.
The source is from within the Armed Forces.
Apparently AN was squatting in the olding sector, and observed first hand what went on :pop: I have a senior source within the Armed Forces.
Hi,
I guess the SOLDIER deserves a medal and gratitude from both the sides for keeping his cool----and so does the 2nd Lt---I guess we sitting far away have different picture of the opposing forces----but those in the front line have a totally different perspective---.
As an ex serviceman u know how panicky a soldier can be when he sees a helo landing and than realises its his arch enemy's but still remains cool and calculated not to let his emotions over come and just let loose a burst of fire from his HK carbine. This is the most positive part of this incident. Maybe the think tanks of the GOP and GOI should highlight this instead of following the jingoism of oh we forced them to land. This only feeds fuel to the fire for the people who do not want peace.
Our Armed Forces deserve all the credit in the world :pakistan:
Who was squatting next to me and having a whiskey with me?
Whatever
"A report in a Pakistani paper says the military scrambled a combat jet after an Indian Army helicopter strayed into Pakistani airspace yesterday. The Dawn newspaper also says that the Indian crew was warned that the aircraft would be fired at if it tried to escape."
Pak scrambled combat jet after Indian chopper strayed: Report
If your implying that "the Indian crew was warned that the aircraft would be fired at if it tried to escape" is something to raise an eyebrow on then my dear fellow you are naive. We found an intruder in our space and hence it was our duty to investigate its purpose. Letting the crew and the chopper go without due investigation would have been as stupid as shooting it down without warning. Stop trying to find excuses to pick a fight and grow up a little. Man up and admit what is obvious.
Its just a proof that how pre-occupied is pakistan that it have to forget its enemy which it loves to hate.
Pak army don't want any direct confrontation with Indian Army at present. My two cents.
Im not going to delve into 'who's been selling war as a possibility and who has not'. Ill just say that Pakistan has never wanted any military confrontation. Anyone who willingly does is an idiot. Also stop it with the false sense of self importance and power that you guys have been throwing around so frequently. We've never bought it and we never will. The fact of the matter is that we have forced your aircraft to land and impounded them and at times blown them up in the air several times in the past. We've seen your threats and chest thumping too many times before only to see them deflate in a matter of days. You've had far better excuses in the past to choose the path of the idiot. Your bluffs have been called too many times before. This time we acted in a mature and praiseworthy manner. We went a little further than was required: Gave you the helli back didnt we? The bold part above goes for you too. Its about time that our nations started acting with such responsibility.
They just had a visit..to Pakisthan......And it was not forced to land....They landed themself due to bad weather and informed pak army that they landed wrongly
Dude seriously........?
As per the British Attache in Pakistan, the helicopter landed in poor visibilty and low on fuel on a landing strip they thought was their forward post in India. A soldier in Khakhi came running out and saluted them before realising that it was not a PA / PAF helicopter. Pointed a gun and raised an alarm. A IInd Lt present on the scene was very courteous and reported the same to his Batco while seating them in his personal /official tent. PAF jets were scrambled 45 mins later. Prove me wrong Mr. Army Man.
However there is no denying both the Govt's handled it in a mature way and the kudos in this go to Pakistan.
Regards
Oh not again..... You know this comment is not just funny but extremely idiotic. Just the assumption that the Indian crew was stupid enough to mistake the helipad as one of their own and then on top of that the assumption that anyone could just fly and land inside a military base without anyone taking notice is stupid beyond words. This is the most alert 'border' remember? A little rustling in the trees prompts a fire fight that continues for hours. I remember that excuses like these are also given about the gnat that was forced to land. Your military sources are reporting contrary to what you have said. Go read up a little.
MODS: What are you guys waiting for? Close it already.....
I assure you if you even knew how to spell PA or PAF, you would know interception takes some co-ordination. The Helo landed because the Indians thought it was one of their ALGS and thats a fact you fanboys can't get over.
AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA .... is this guy for real ?!?! How drunk one has to be to come up with this drivel?! , Pakistani bases and posts are un-mistakable and this joker is suggesting that the heli landed as the Indians thought it was one of theirs!!
was the radio on the heli working ? apparently it was .. so how the f*** could they mistake a Pakistani base for theirs , if they had radio contact ?!
Total rubbish ... this Indian is making a fool out of himself ... change your flag ( this flag will change anyway with Scotland going its own way , the union jack will be a thing of the past .. haha ... lol )
An accurate riposte from a 14 year old who was called first hand by the senior PAF source and de -briefed on the incident.
If Indian heli pilots are that much stupid that they cannot identify their posts and helipads from the ridges and features that surround their posts then they must be a very incompetent bunch , map reading and orientation standard of indian mil must be very poor
Thats for an Indian to explain, all I said was PAF was not involved and no credit is due to them.
Forget him - another indian hiding behind another countries flag.
You claimed that they landed on the helipad thinking that it was their forward post .. which is a load of rubbish
The heli was detected , the standard drills of air defence were activated ( MANPAD activated and Jets Scrambled ) , heli it was forced to land , the crew was made to surrender their possessions and the stores ( including the chopper ) were confiscated and inspected and once it was established that they are just an incompetent bunch who lost their way while carrying spare parts , they were let off .
still the bashing, i don't know when you bunch of morrons both from India and Pakistan appriciate each other on everyting. rather you fight over petty things on who did what?
I feel some times hopeless but yet have a feeling that one day or the other we will be friends and not foes.
Or maybe someone exposing your lack of knowledge?
Manpad activated? You are now becoming a joke. You know how a manpad is activated? Please stop watching Hollywood movies. Do you know the check of list for ANZAS activation?
Military attaches apparently know more than senior officers in the Pakistani Armed Forces, even the attache story sounds dubious, come on indian - put the tricolor on your profile, you know you want to. :azn:
