Why to pick on poor Indians. How about a new thread on Pakistani made " lightweight car and throw in a 4 stroker and a 2 speed tranny".

These cars are made for Shell Eco Marathon competition. They are definitely not meant to be road legal or commercial production for that matter

I am sure this car, or what ever it is, is hybrid (solar/electric+gas) otherwise I don't see how one can achieve 5385 km/litre.

How does even a human sit in this thing?? I mean even if it is a competition for high mileage but there need to be provision to seat one human without turning and twisting his body..

Depends on the category mate the car I am working on in the University gives a top speed of 55 mi/hr and runs on solar and gas. We are trying to enter into the competition to earn some college credit and get a scholarship.

The car runs on Solar energy which is stored in batteries, and the gas motor only runs to charge the batteries or when the batteries run out.

So far the project has run into a lot of problems because the batteries keep leaking, so I am hoping we can solve the problem before the end of summer and before the start of the fall semester over here.

True mate but, we not working on a large budget over here. I am only doing this for some credit and a chance at the scholarship. We are trying a complete solar car, but we are having a lot of problems with keeping the batteries charged, the problem we having is when the car runs for more than 20 minutes the batteries run out of juice and starts to leak, we are trying to get our hand on one of batteries from Ford which they use in their hybrid but its gonna take a lot of time, so we went and added a gas motor to compensate for the batteries.
