In a hot war, I highly doubt Russia would supply India with many weapons at all to antagonize China .... so basically a majority of Indian weapons are irreplaceable. That is why I always say a protracted war of attrition would actually in China's advantage because the Indians aren't able to replace material losses.

I think they know this but is incapable to rectify this weakness due to entrenched interests. I truly believe if given the opportunity and support, Indian arms industry can grow but with the babudom in power, where every Tom dick and Harry wants to go testing and meeting in Paris, who wants to have a meeting in Gurgaon? As per recent info out of 4 million Armed forces Military and Para Mil.. over 2 million are deployed in hot and border areas thats much more than any other nation...
