More like he is trying to condition the media/public to hostilities between India and China so every little piece of news is looked at through this prism. Look at Iraq, there was 0 actual proof of WMD but US politicians constantly kept saying over and over with media jumping on board it was taken as fact. Look at Pakistan, they are these days constantly looked at through the eyes of a failed state and centre of terrorism so the only news that is reported is about terrorism or the chaos in the counrty and all other stories (poetically of good) are complexity overlooked and now the US public has a very narrow minded view of a complex situation but are by the prevailing line from their politicians. Same thing is starting here, we will now see every little incident between the countries that might have gone unnoticed before being blown up to huge proportions.

To be fair, as much as GoI has tried to dampen it, the Indian media has been doing this themselves of late. Every Indo-China story these days seems to be of growing hostility/suspicion or preparing for conflict. Not helping.

Hey, it's no coincidence that both China and India are to leap-frog the US economy within the next 35 years. This lumbering giant is going to go down without a fight and it would just love both its potential rivals to take each other out whilst it sits back with its pop corn and watches it all burn.

WASHINGTON: Noting that India is increasingly getting concerned about China's posture on its border, a top US intelligence official on Wednesday said that the Indian Army is strengthening itself for a "limited conflict" with China.

"Despite public statements intended to downplay tensions between India and China, we judge that India is increasingly concerned about China's posture along their disputed border and Beijing's perceived aggressive posture in the Indian Ocean and Asia-Pacific region," director of national intelligence James Clapper said in his prepared testimony before the Senate Select Committee on intelligence.

"The Indian Army believes a major Sino-Indian conflict is not imminent, but the Indian military is strengthening its forces in preparation to fight a limited conflict along the disputed border, and is working to balance Chinese power projection in the Indian Ocean," he said.

India, Clapper said, has expressed support for a strong US military posture in East Asia and US engagement in Asia. He said China in 2011 appeared to temper the assertive behavior that characterised its foreign policy the year before, but the internal and external drivers of that behavior persist.

"Moreover, although Chinese leaders have affirmed their commitment to a peaceful and pragmatic foreign policy - and especially to stable relations with China's neighbours and the rest of the world - Beijing may take actions contrary to that goal if it perceives that China's sovereignty or national security is being seriously challenged," he said.

Many of Beijing's military capability goals have now been realised, resulting in impressive military might.

Other goals remain longer term, but the Chinese army is receiving the funding and political support to transform it into a fully modern force, capable of sustained operations in Asia and beyond, he said.

The USA is basically telling China "don't trust india, they already told us about their plans to backstab you."

for what would india fight the limited for to get aksai chin back or to just mess with china

. .
what the india army saying is this we can not fight china in an all out war

what the india army saying is this we can not fight china in an all out war

It's the other way round ..... China is in no position to fight an all out war.

PLA would be stupid to try a "limited war" ..... but well, India can't assume that PLA would not act stupid.
