what is the need of bringing china and pakistan in to this this news ? and does touch down considered to be a landing?

meanwhile PAF already finished there exercises of emergency road landings in High mark 2016

WTF is this, the planes didnt even touched the ground, and they are calling it landing? This is not even touch and go!

Only Indians can do this..........

Amazing the simplicity with which the newscaster is explaining the story. What they don't tell the public is that pakistan has been prepared for this for decades.

@ Bravo...this is not just for emergency landing

We land refuel. Re weaponise. Repair and fight from road runways

And here is how the experts do it....

No need for a 20 minute clip, for things that can be done in 1 minute...

18 seconds from touchdown to halt, 20 seconds turnaround by aircrew.
(Most people don't notice the refueling and rearnament)
and 8 seconds takeoff, for less than one minute.

Dawn swedes, now reversing jets and all. Although I heard the Gripen cant reverse; but because it has such a small turning circle on the ground it can probably just do a little circle.

Gripen do not need reverse thrust!
Still can come to a halt in half the time needed by Viggen.

That is superior braking technique if nothing else. The pilot doing whatever was necessary to demonstrate a short landing.

He figured out how to do it even faster a little later.

It all starts with a Cobra manuever.
As it was known that there were some limitations to the undercarriage suspension,
he took some precautions before the landing.

What is most impressive is the way the flight computer corrects the position
of the plane afterwards.

Watched this personally.
I live next to the church in the background.

The flight computer was like "Pfft.. had he let me fly it all the way , we wont even be having this hard landing".

What happened was that the pilot flew in over Stockholm, made a 180 degree turn,
and flew into his own turbulence (similar to Mavericks Top Gun's crash) and started to oscillate.
As the pilot tried to correct with the stick, the computer got overloaded, and the RTOS
did not provide enough cycles for the low level control loop keeping the plane stable.

SAAB knew that too much movement of the stick could cause this problem,
but they assumed that this would never happen, so they never told the pilot.
If the pilot had let go of the stick, the plane would have corrected itself,
