Indian Air Force jets landing on a highway in Uttar Pradesh

Our Hindi news channels have cartoonish way of reporting such news... even we laugh at them. However, there is nothing in Pakistan that we wish to imitate. This is pretty regular exercise that Indian airforce have been doing. 18 months back, May 2015, Mirage 2000 landed on Yamuna Expressway... should i say that it's Pakistan imitating us now:crazy:

It was just a touch down because it's a newly commissioned road, just to check feasibility of landing. Also, it's SU-MKI, an absolute mammoth of a plane, twice the size of 60's F-7 junk so no comparison on pilots capabilities here. JUst check the size comparison of a Rafale and SU MKI, it would help you calm down.

And as always your mammoth loses to 70's junk because of the electrical failures....LOL

what is the need of bringing china and pakistan in to this this news ? and does touch down considered to be a landing?

meanwhile PAF already finished there exercises of emergency road landings in High mark 2016

they were not even able to touch down due to pilots fearing that it would burst the tires.in the whole video they didnt show a single touch down i guess.its been on the media for past two days

Personally I find it ridiculous to ridicule Indian pilots for not touching down.
That India has capable pilots is proven by the fact they can land on carriers.
That is harder than anything else.
Maybe Indian news reporting should be ridiculed...

Landing on highways is not copying Pakistan, since that idea was put in use by Germany during WW2.
Neither India nor Pakistan existed at that time.

Anyway, the occasional landing on any sufficiently long highway, is probably not a big deal for any fighter pilot.
What is a big deal is an organisation which can service the aircraft for the next sortie.

The Swedish Air Force has worked with local manufacturers, so everything needed to service
the JAS Gripen (not Grippen) fit onto two trucks (maybe fuel and ammunition excluded),
so it is fairly easy to move the base elsewhere.

A highway base which cannot be moved quickly is really not very good.

Yaar please! ap sab Indians ka mazak mat banain ho sakta ha kisi ny highway pey potty kr di ho or pilot ny dekh k is lia landing na ki ho o_O ab India main toilet to hain nahi to ese hi jaga jaga highway railway tracks pe suna ha beth jatey hain :omghaha: ye bhe to aik fact ho sakta ha na :undecided:

Everybody who is jumping here is missing a very important point. No airforce on the earth selects it's personnel who doesn't qualify for the job. If a pilot is trusted with a machine that's millions of dollars worth, then he surely is a capable pilot.

But you know, there will always be that kind of people who only believe in what floats their boat. And please don't mention the aircraft carrier. They don't care about it. They want to talk about the motorway landing. Period. They haven't seen an ACC in PN colours. So it's waste of your time.

PAF has been doing this for than a decade and doing much better on a much better road
