India, US set to ink $1.4bn deal for 22 Apache helicopters

.
Be fair with the Indian forces. If India only has domestic weapons, then India has no chance against your forces. So getting Apache would provide them a stronger force to create a balance in case of a war.

To be fair to chinese forces, china has no chance against India with only domestic weapons. All they could scramble in tibet was Su-30MKK, their only functional fourth gen figher (.. of russian origin, if someone isn't aware). So, naturally they are not betting on Su-35 for parity. Same goes for IL-76, helis etc. China's dependence on Russia is much more critical because of it being the "sole supplier".

Isn't MKk use only by the Chinese navy?

At least India pays for the best and gets the best, no wonder all major nations sell them high technology and also trust India and know that India will not betray their trust.

Will not betray=not able to reverse engineer

Will not betray=not able to reverse engineer

Most vendors seem take Indian for granted

Not reverse engg is not equal to not able to reverse engineer .

There are some countries who still like to follow rules and IP .

LCH is not the same as apache as they belongs to different class. And if India is serious about countering China, it needs to buy American weapons.

There is nothing like different classes for combat helicopters!

All combat helicopters are meant for the same roles and mainly offer the same weapon capabilities (chinmounted gun, ATGM and rocket pods, light IR missiles), carrying 2 or 3 more rockets is not the same as comparing an LCA with an MKI.
The real difference that the Apache Block 3 makes, is the upgraded avionics and here it will be interesting to see how much of the US avionics will remain for the Indian order. And no, we don't need US weapons to counter China, that's why we rejected F35 and went with FGFA, or why we rejected F16s and Super Hornets and went with Rafales. These are meant to counter China and we need more capable arms and techs than you could offer, with less operational limitations.

Buddy National Security will not take a hit if we add more Locally produced products

Yes it will, as long as we can't develop similarly capable arms and techs. That's why we buy Rafale which is far ahead of the low end LCA we develop, that's why we Procure the Phalcon AWACS, which is ahead of our DRDO AWACS, that's why most of our top end weapon systems are co-developed with foreign companies that are way ahead of our own. We can't risk national security, for silly pride reasons, so lets wait for another decade and give our industry the time to get out of the child age they are in today!

Ok news is that US copter top guns are already training Indian pilots to fly the Apache, its a very intensive course as the Apaches can perform multi roles, it seems that they can also link their radars to fighters and ground surveillance radars and share information.

I think India will definitely be getting more of these beasts, another wise choice by India.

i don't think so @sancho. Both are of different classes.no one defines wight classes its just commen sense.
empty weight:
Apache :5,165 kg Mi-28 :8,600 kg
LCH:2,250 kg T-129 :2,530 kg

or what is the diff between MRCA and heavy fighters? both are meant for the same roles and mainly offer the same weapon capabilities.?don't they?
so ,LCH and Apache are of different class choppers.with slight diff in roles same as in case of medium and heavy fighters.
