India, US set to ink $1.4bn deal for 22 Apache helicopters

China with indigenous high tech manufactoring capability can smash a country that needs to import ammo - FACT
so what are you waiting for amigo!come and vanquish us Indians as we are waiting to get conquered by the mighty PLA!

The money could had better spent on sanitation and clean water. Millions die due to diarrhoea and colera in India every year. Another loss for humanity.
come on mate, seriously:blah:!i believe you can do much better than this:rofl:!

True but the Indian forces are not just interested in a 1:1 replacement

Yes we are, that's why the competition is about the same number of combat helicopters and squads, that will be replaced 22 helicopters in 2 squads!

there is a need to add capacity and grow the force levels

That's what Rudra and LCH is for and why IA and IAF already ordered bigger numbers of them!

And the IAF still has the desire to use Apaches in SEAD mission profiles surely?

A combat helicopter is not a dedicated SEAD weapon, but offers a tactical possibility to use it in that role, against radars close to the border region. However, that is not a reason to buy such costly helicopters and wait till such a situation might come up. If IAF still would had control of the combat helicopters, they could perform such roles too, but if not, they simply as the IA air wing to a joint operation in this role, with IAF fighters, or UAVs at high altitude, while IA could penetrate with Apaches at low levels, just like IAF would have done it.

That's why I have said this before:

That's why you have to think it through based on what we do know and stick to facts!

- the current procurement is only to replace Mi 35s, not other helicopters
- we are adding Rudra and LCH combat in the short to mid term as well
- if IA gets the combat helicopters, there is only escort roles left, that IAF could do with armed helis, which obviously don't require Apaches

so the order will definitely increase but not in a big margin.

That would be at least logical, but the point was, that IAF has only the requirement for 22 / 2 squad and only if they keep the Mi 35s. If IA gets the Mi 35s, their replacement will logically be diverted to IA as well and if they want to raise a 3rd squadron, then they most likely get 11 more, but we won't buy the 60 to 100 that were speculated in the thread before.

Who gives a $hit what Nehru thought. The point is that there is a huge difference between the muscle power in Nehru's time and now.
Yes indeed. There is a huge gap growing bigger every day. 1962 is nothing compared to what PLA, PLAAF, PLAN and Second Artillery will do this time ;)

Hopefully this deal gets cancelled and India inducts more LCH. It can do anti tank and air to ground missions as good as the Apache. I hate when India develops one weapon at home and buys the same from foreign. This pisses me off. Our leaders are keeping us in delusion by using such tactics. :hitwall: Same thing with LUH. :hitwall:

Those top brass can't have chance to corrupt if they not procure from abroad.

If you wanna develop LCH well, you should stay focused. Buying Apache will distract you from doing so. India is like a kid got confused in a candy shop. If India is going for Apache, means you guys not focus on LCH.

LCH is not the same as apache as they belongs to different class. And if India is serious about countering China, it needs to buy American weapons.

You distort what i mean, I mean you always distract yourself. IA will prefer Apache than LCH, means LCH will be buried. The money used to pay Apache will reduce the number of LCH IA induct, am i right? Look in the Arjun case.

Be fair with the Indian forces. If India only has domestic weapons, then India has no chance against your forces. So getting Apache would provide them a stronger force to create a balance in case of a war.

Yep LCH should be the priority . These Defense ministry and other Corrupt niggas will not leave even a single military project to develop in India .

Priority is national security not local industry, based by governmental research centers.

Buddy National Security will not take a hit if we add more Locally produced products and slowly reduce foreign made products based on bare necessities like China . But Local development is nipped at bud . We need more local companies in defense productions.
