India underestimates poverty in comparison to global standard

When i visit threads like these i seriously feel like i live in a different country coz the India i live in is very different to this.Last week i was going through an area which had a poor population and i dont know why i felt like stopping and having a look at their lifestyle maybe coz i had read a few articles here on PDF but i was shocked to see these so called poor people having Chinese mobiles,TV sets with cable etc.

I honestly believe instead of 29/50 rs thing we must look at their lifestyle and then decide what they are.In 1 USD you can buy a lot of stuff in India and US standards need not be applied to India.

In college days, I saw one sweeper showing video of desi song on his to other one, when they were taking rest. . Most of them listen to songs while doing their work. Same goes to majority of our labour population. They don't have good clothes but they certainly have items like mobile phones with camera, mp3 and video format supporting etc.

The dehadi or the amount they earn in a day of a Labour in India is close to 300rs

Its not that the resources are not there in india to eradicate poverty only thing is that system and corruption has failed the poverty eradication drive.Otherwise how can one explain the criminal waste of $12 billion worth of food-grains simply rotting in FCI godowns.

And every student get free education and free midday meal in the government run schools.

I always thought that Poverty, failed state etc are banned topic, may be its changed now.

Those rules do not apply to Pakistani elite members. There needs to be an impeachment motion to remove them from the elite status that needs to be passed with 66 percent votes from among the moderators. The motion then needs to be approved by the webby. There is a cool off period of 60 days afteer that post which a motion can be tabled to issue the infraction to the Pakistani elite member.

because here you can get a plate of rice,fish curry,a veg item for Rs 17.
In Western countries how much would that cost?? Not less than 4dollars.

Wrong the minimum buffet price here is $9 so that's close to 500 Indian rupees..

Don't about exact figure but what she is referring is spot on. You should visit these FCI godowns.....You will be appaled to see and will wonder how any person in India can die becuase of hunger if we have so much food grains...In my city where we owned a land piece, there was one of these godowns, and outside the shed you can see atleast a tonne of wheat kept in the open...
