India turns down US plans to counter China

Really? The NAM? Really??

Well, Bangladesh is also a member of NAM. Where the hell did they get that the US plans to set up a base in Chittagong? If it were true, it would have been huge news around the globe. Fishy.....

NAM is a nice concept, yet utopian at best. America won the Cold War, while the rest gathered up the pieces like roaches.

You're right NAM as a concept died with the Cold war. These days its more about multi-polarization. India seems to go with every bloc, NAM, SCO, BRIC, IBSA etc to ensure it is not clubbed into the so called "lackey" club.

India now should go under the shadow of the chinese century , as India known that she can't be a counterweight to china even
in the next zillion years. Rather go under the protection of big brother china and allow the rise of
a peaceful asia lead by china.:china:

The one who relies on some else for security is bound to get screwed.

. . .
What I am saying is India is SCARED of China even when USA said that she would back India when things go wrong but India still REFUSED to mess with her MIGHT Neighbor !

There is no way that one can convece you and you are the one that refuses to see the reality, if India would have taken the US help then you would argue that India is too scared of China that it needs the US help.

obviously , India will never be England or Japan, following USA and pay money for USA's war, be a big coutry should have her own voice , as France, France USA CHina Israel all have independed policy based on countries benefit

.
Countering China is imperative on India, but US wants everything to be explicit. India will not have a explicit policy of containing China, but implicitly it already has one. The same is applicable to China. China has no have a explicit policy of containing India, but implicitly it already has one. It is a game. Survival of the fittest

You've hit the nail on the head. France, China, Israel and I should add South Africa and Germany to the mix are usually the countries which try to go in for independent policies. India and Brazil are the late entrants to this club.

People should have a look at what happened in Lebanon. Those guys literally outsourced their entire national security to Syria. And yes, they got pretty screwed (and still are).

To be frank, I'm not getting India's goals. Just where are they going to go while complementing with other Asian countries? We just couldn't say. On one note, their government said that China is no threat to India.

My advise to Americans: If you have a problem with China, go directly face up to them like a man rather than relying on third parties.

Is that so?

India today politely, but firmly, told US secretary of Defence Lean Panetta that there is a need to re-calibrate and rethink the just announced US Asia- Pacific policy.

Well played by India.

It knows that the Indian statement will have ZERO impact on US military plans, but it sends the right message domestically and regionally.

India needs to let go of the wet dreams of becoming a "supa powa" with a declining economy and learn to become a friendly neighbor. I understand its a long and hard process especially with a history of British colonial rule

Sneaky Americans want an excuse to nuke China...for an example, USA is pushing the Philippines to go to war with China so that when China attacks the Philippines then USA will use that as an excuse to nuke China in the name of defending her "ally".

No silly...

The Americans simply want control over the sea trade routes. Especially the South China Sea. If you have control over that aspect, that'll give you a big advantage over other countries that may be challenging you.

It's not about nuking another country, or the money. It's the issue of control. And trust me, America is determined to maintain its superpower status for a long, long time.
