India trying to occupy Bangladesh territory

The point both du and omar missed here is that,INDIA DIDN'T SEPERATE PAKISTAN,but helped the bangladeshis to achive THEIR FREEDOM..........without the brave freedom fighters and the mighty sons of bangladesh a sovereign bd wud had been impossible........THEY WANTED FREEDOM,and we helped them achive it,maybe for our own interest or maybe solely as a goodwill.......but,SO WHAT???.....bd wanted independence, they got it,and thats all!!!

.
India gave them freedom ???? and more over india do give a big help to Bangladesh in form of money - when they have any kind of problem like flood or cyclone.

Duhastmish,
It would be better if you replace "India gave them freedom" with "India helped them to get freedom".It was a joint effort. You can also have a look at my signature.

If we had not wanted to seperate from Pakistan, there was no way for India to give us freedom. The proof of it is 1965 war. When East Bengal regiment soldiers strapped bombs on their bodies to stop Indian tanks,as they were short of land mines. All to save Pakistan.

About donations, well even Bangladesh donates money and relief goods to India when there is natural calamity in India,Be it Tsunami or Gujrat earthquake. We do whatever we can afford to do.

Only difference us is that,we do it silently but apparently you are boasting about what help you did to us.

India separated Bangladesh from Pakistan for its own interst.

As for giving Bangladesh help (money, food) during natural disasters, many countries helped Bangladesh with that. In the last cyclone to hit Bangladesh, Pakistan also provided help to Bangladeshis as many countries around the world did, not only India.
so what does that mean einstien ??? i never denied pakistan help bangladesh - but i said india do -

You proved yourself wrong didnt you ????

If you already knew this fact - means you were just derailing the thread - as gesture you must apologize and promise not to make such mistake again in future.

To duhastmish: I said India isn't doing anything to help Bangladesh..in the present sense like China is currently helping Bangladesh build a port that will help boost Bangladesh's economy.

Leonblack, no one can 'give independence to any one', it has to be hugely desired and earned. BD earned its freedom with blood of millions of its citizens and at the cost of a totally devastated nation. India assisted in the freedom struggle of BD. These are historical facts. It is also a fact that BD's freedom struggle was opposed by Pakistan which was supported by the US which sent the Task Force 74 (part of the Seventh Fleet) comprising of the nuclear powered USS Enterprise into the Bay of Bengal to threaten India. The freedom struggle of BD was also opposed by China which moved its troops close to the Indian border and carried out numerous incursions into India, China did this at the behest of Pakistan, which wanted India to be forced into opening another front in the war and thereby forefeit its capability to engage the Pak army in BD. Therefore, the new best friends of BD namely Pakistan and China never wanted BD to be born in the first place. All these are indisputable facts. Why things are the way they are at this point of time, is altogather another story. Is the situation going to change? Yes, there is a very strong public opinion in India to drastically improve relations with BD. How long will it take? I honestly dont know. In the meanwhile, the fact that BD is an independant and sovereign nation today on its way to progress and prosperity, in itself is a tribute to the soldiers of Mukti Bahini and the Indian Army who died on the soil of BD in December 1971.
Regards.

pmukherjee,

That's what I said.

And about opposing our independence, even USA opposed our independence, but now they are our friend.

The tide has turned Pmukherjee. After 1971,India's policies only harmed us and nothing else. That's the truth and you have to accept it.Its the sole reason why India is not trusted by most Bangladeshis at the present time.
On the other hand China has been investing and helping us from 1975 onwards. The relation between Bangladesh and China have changed in these years.

I think there should be a thread on the amount of land we lose to India due to natural reasons. As far as I know, its ominous for Bangladesh. We also need to know the cause of this land loss and we should start thinking about preventing such land loss.
On the contrary, Bangladesh is actually gaining land.

Scientists from the Dhaka-based Center for Environment and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) have studied 32 years of satellite images and say Bangladesh's landmass has increased by 20 square kilometres (eight square miles) annually.

Maminul Haque Sarker, head of the department at the government-owned centre that looks at boundary changes, said sediment which travelled down the big Himalayan rivers the Ganges and the Brahmaputra -- had caused the landmass to increase.

The rivers, which meet in the centre of Bangladesh, carry more than a billion tonnes of sediment every year and most of it comes to rest on the southern coastline of the country in the Bay of Bengal where new territory is forming, he said in an interview on Tuesday.

<snip>

"Satellite images dating back to 1973 and old maps earlier than that show some 1,000 square kilometres of land have raised from the sea," Sarker said.

"A rise in sea level will offset this and slow the gains made by new territories, but there will still be an increase in land. We think that in the next 50 years we may get another 1,000 square kilometres of land."

This is the double standard due to which India has no credibility. The ‘Brave Sons’ of East Pakistan defeated India in 1965. Why didn’t you praise them then??? Don’t you think they were brave enough then also?

The Brave sons of Kashmir and Punjab are also fighting for their freedom why do you call them terrorists?

Don’t say it a goodwill b/c you cannot do it for goodwill. Will you show a goodwill gesture to those brave sons of Pakistan who fought for our country? Can you give a goodwill gesture to M.M Alam?

You know what is the difference b/w goodwill and interests? If we help Kashmiris we will do it for goodwill and if we help Sikhs in Punjab we will do it for our interests. So don’t use words for your interests and be honest.

Oh it is not only the tonnage of sediments carried by the rivers that form land mass. It is also the rivers drying up that form more land for our country, from Farakka.
And with the Tipaimukh coming on stream, this new foundland should double or triple in future.
Good news for Bangladesh - what do you all say??

thats why i used the word 'MAYBE'.........and yes bangladeshis beat you ,not us indians.....we only acted as a catalyst......your other question is naive, soldiers who fight fight for motherland are always brave......i never questioned a soldier's bravery!!!....but praised some who brought their country freedom, that is the greatest feat a man can achive.......edit-punjab??...lolz....kashmir??....lolz....just today some 'freedom fighters' killed a kashmiri with his 3 YR OLD SON,then again lets keep this issues out of bd section
