India to outpace China in 2011: WB

. . .
However, in India you get arrested for saying "I hate Sonia Gandhi."

Long live Indian Democracy.
You should understand the freedom of speech before forming opinions about this case or other for that matter. I did some research on this case and it turns out he was indeed arrested under
India's IT act, article 67, which states the following:

Publishing of information which is obscene in electronic form. – Whoever publishes or transmits or causes to be published in the electronic form, any material which is lascivious or appeal to the prurient interest or if its effect is such as to tend to deprave and corrupt persons who are likely, having regard to all relevant circumstances, to read, see or hear the matter contained or embodied in it, shall be punished on first conviction with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years and with fine which may extend to one lakh rupees and in the event of a second or subsequent conviction with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years and also with fine which may extend to two lakh rupees.

We do not know what exactly he posted, but none of the other posters in that site nor the creator of the site was arrested.

Try your freedom of speech by shouting "bomb" in a plane and lets see which country will allow you to travel without getting arrested.

Lol

You know nothing about Indian Democracy.

Come to the same site Orkut.

You will get to listen the worst of the Abuses for Gandhi, Nehru, sonia and Congress.

Yes they all suck.

But those cases which you mentioned are very very Rare and they come only to notice if some one from the party sees that.(High Command).

Let's test Chinese Freedom.

Go in the Middle of Tiananmen square and shout

Hu Jinato You suck.

:china:

yeah i did, what now? nothing. you think the government cares about what 1 person thinks? this isn't india where the government is at a real danger of being overthrown by rebels.

modern india - illegal land confiscations, pollution, corruption, capital flight, inability to punish criminals, brutal police torture, limits on public freedoms, **** and killing of dalits go unpunished, child labor, slavery, highest AIDS rate in asia, african level starvation and disease, and better yet india doesn't even have its own language so it has to use ENGLISH as official language.

. . .
Minor correction, English is not the official language of India, it's Hindi. English is a sub-official language

So what language does your Sikh PM speak ? And what ever language that he speaks how many Indians can understand him ?

.
Are you basing your judgement of an entire country just by a few isolated cases?

By your logic the United States is a country of Charles Mansons and White Supremacists and the priests in the Roman Catholic Church are all pedophiles (which is obviously untrue).

Yes that's what happens when you stereotype.

Oh he speaks Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, English quite fluently ;)

As for your second part, most Indians are trilingual/bilingual

That's quite similar to China actually.

For example, a Shanghai local will often be able to speak the "local dialect" (Shanghainese), the "national dialect" (Mandarin), and also an "international language" like English.

Honestly though... I think we should skip the "local dialect" stage and just go for Mandarin+English. Since I live in HK my local dialect is Cantonese lol, it is just a hassle having to learn English and Mandarin as well.
