India to outpace China in 2011: WB

haha, ok, let me just ask you: how's that GDP per capita for mexico doing when they're being killed by drug dealers and have no technology and can't buy anything because their prices are American while their wages are Mexican? GDP/capita means jack s* for most people, what really matters is what you can buy with it.

By some person stepping in, finding an entrepreneurial opportunity in that, setting up a business that makes or imports goods that fit in with the mexican wallet? Its called business and someone making a profit. How else did you think - central government officials directing local governors to meet certain trade and infrastructure quota??

.
Thank God, even though I am atheist, fortunately, we are not in Mexico, near from the United States, but also the most suffering.

As for China, you do not know enough, because you believe your media, as india, we have sufficient understanding. Americans can continue to believe the media, I do not disagree.

Sorry, we have independent brains and we have too many of your students here to not know what's going on in China. China has several positives but also several negatives. The good thing is the government seems to be able and willing to get rid of the negatives. That's a good sign.

Yes, they obviously eat, but beyond that? Their internet usage rate, cell phone usage rate, electrical consumption per capita and other important measures of modern life are lower than Chinas. Your mind is too simple and stuck at a Economics 101 level.

Basic statistics also says: Chinese students are a self-selecting group, not a random sample.

India has everything - She has economy, GDP, young and educated population, and more importantly the freedom and democracy which the china lacks. In the long run freedom and democracy will be the bottleneck for china and India will out-pace China.

But....... Indian is also high in corruption and the leaders lacks balls, don't have big heart as well as the courage to lead south Asia

.
And says who??? a Chinese Fanboy!! . Boy the report is published by world bank not reported by some fanboy on defence.pk.

So take a reality check and leave your chinese arogance on side. It's just a matter of time, what you can do others can also do rather can do much better?

china finished the construction of the beijng olympics on time...hmmmm enuf said :rofl:

You've got it backwards.

Freedom and democracy are not prerequisites for economic growth; they are often the rewards of a rich economy.

There was an article in another thread why many Western industries are moving to China precisely because there is less risk of government policy changes every few years. It provides certainty and stability for investors.

No doubt China is doing very good today. But at what cost? and how long it can pull using force? What ever you achieve, it can collapse like a pack of cards if the foundation gives away

The foundation is freedom and democracy. How many countries practice communistic polices other than China and North Korea?

Nope - current generations mustn't give up their freedom and their demographic rights so that future generations *MAY* utilize them. That is far too altruistic.

What makes you think China's fundamentals are weak? Why would it 'collapse' any more than any other country following a catastrophic change in governance?

China's government is not forcing people into labor camps or telling people where they should invest. It is very much a free market economy, albeit strongly guided by the government. Democractic governments do the same with tax laws and regulations. I think if you look past labels, there is far less difference between the Chinese system and the West in terms of economic management.

I am not saying democratic countries should change or vice versa. All systems of governance have advantages and disadvantages. I am simply stating the advantages that stable non-democratic systems bring.

It seems to be an observed fact for some nations,Like take the example of Japan and Taiwan, both of them were under dictatorship Govts back in 50-60s i.e until their respective economies caught momentum. For Japan infact they even had Eugenics programs during Showa era.

Though its not entirely correct for example despite Taiwan today being economically prosperous its still considered a flawed democracy.

I'd rather ignore this GDP race. I have no idea what GDP measures really. People in many countries with higher per capita GDPs than China actually live much poorer lives.

As for democracy, I have had enough of that word. I don't want democracy, period. I don't want to vote. I don't want to say that I actually know enough to choose a national leader. I am not. Elections are farces, all of them.

CHina does not "have" anything in terms of business at least. Some investors decided to put in money because they saw the businesses were viable and got some returns out of it and probably became rich in the process. You do not "HAVE" it. You have to PAY for it to get it. Similarly, if someone in Mexico finds that a bunch of people will PAY for it, they will "have" it too.

Have you heard of Carlos Slim and his telecommunication empire? Do you want to look up who the #1 richest person in the world is and how he made his money? here's a hint - its called mexican telecommunications and a bunch of other related infrastructure. Like I said before, you are naive if you think you HAVE it. Someone else ( a bunch of investors) HAVE it and OWN it and you lease it from them for a certain amount of time for a certain fee.

Forget Economic development; People have no freedom to freely express their opinion or select their leader who is going to lead. This is so fundamental to the society. Living under dictatorship (ya you will say no, but communists are close to dictatorship ) is HELL. You live in UK and see similarities between the democracy and China's lack of freedom?.That is a pity.
