India to launch its first astronauts into space by 2015

no, i am just being real. :)

isro must study why spacex, established 2002, is the most successful private space agency, with three luggage delivery trips already to the "international space station" and radical design of rockets and human mission possible by end of 2017.

as long as isro is not staffed by creative and radical college dropouts, they will remain an agency which uses designs or technologies that others have discarded or rejected.

come on... isro has been basically a satellite maker... there are private companies like "surrey satellite" that do that... only difference is that isro sometimes launches its products by itself.

sorry to say but isro is inspiring only the hyper-patriotic triple-college-degree indian graduate types... those are hardly the most innovative people.

let isro start on innovation by designing a microprocessor and operating system. :)
i support them, because they are generally doing something like this at start-up level though i read that some big company ( tata?? ) will be supplying them the communication system.

and i must say they must be more creative on the design of their vehicle... it looks straight off the vid created by the organizers committee from 2008.

YES Tata is partnering them......
But I do not agree with your first post.
You basically insulted our scientists and all their efforts, Scientists like APJ Abdul Kalam to Vikram Sarabhai.
You were basically comparing USA a advanced and developed country with a $18 trillion economy with excellent scientific base and institutes with practically best resources to INDIA a impoverished country with little scientific base and money. ISRO is what it is , it does its job well........obviously there is always room for improvement.
Degrees or not ISRO possess some of the best minds in the world, and they choose to work for INDIA rather than NASA.

well, i will always troll isro... good night on that. :enjoy:

Co-operation my @ss ....... you simply copied the Russian space capsule and space suite .

OTOH , Indian space capsule and space suite are very different than anything Russia has .

Taikonauts Prepare for Liftoff - IEEE Spectrum

Accordingly, many observers concluded that the entire Shenzhou spacecraft was a copy. It was "little more than a slightly modified version of the old Soviet workhorse of space, the Soyuz," wrote Richard Ingham of Agence France Presse soon after its first flight in 1999.

"No, it's not," countered U.S. space engineer Andrew LePage, an independent consultant in Colorado. "All the vital systems and most of the hardware are of Chinese design." Most other independent experts agree, as do later reports. Apparently, while the Chinese had asked to purchase a fully functional Soyuz vehicle for study, the price demanded by Russia was so high that the deal never took place. The capsule they did get had been stripped before delivery of almost all space systems.

Further, the Chinese re-entry module is about 13 percent larger in all dimensions than the Russian Soyuz on which its design was based [see diagram]. Still, its interior arrangement is similar. There are three side-by-side reclining seats, as well as instrument panels mounted on the cabin wall and at the crew's feet. There are also hand controls and an optical sighting device, crucial for a space rendezvous.

Explain me whats the great achievement to copy a 50 year old soyuz?

No,this isn't a copy of Soyuz capsule

The Space Agency that was not existent for the world drawing criticism from geniuses worldwide is surely an achievement. What are you jealous of, the fact that it's going to send humans to space or that we reached MARS and none of countries could do that in its first attempt.

It's a preliminary design, I agree. Once in later stages, only then it can improvise. Only when it learn it will gain confidence.

And People Criticizing the lack of creativity in ISRO then be advised, creativity is not just to create something which looks good. The Slingshot Method used for Trans Mars Injection was the most creative way of reaching MARS and ISRO achieved it. SPACE X is for the show, ISRO is for cheap way to reach space.

It is. It offers nothing new. What we see here is a decades old design. What is the purpose behind this and what do you try to achieve with this?

I'm European. We landed on a comet, titan and orbit mars, venus, mercury and soon jupiter. We have a colossal space station up there and crew in space all around the year. You may understand why i question this outdated design and why a country that has a massive starving population wastes money on something that others do far better. Your mars craft snaps a few pics of mars. So what? Our Mars Express orobe does this sunce 10 years and also collects massive amounts of data.

The slingshot method was developed 60 years ago from Wernher von Braun but takes too much time and when you have the money you simply use faster methods. If you really want participate n this, why didnt yousend a craft somewhere were we never were before? Sedna for example?

And which rockets fly you to the space stations? Nasa has no space shuttles any more and neither do you highly intelligent Europeans have any. You are using 50 year old designed soyuz rocket for reaching your colossal space station.

Wow, you landed on a comet, titan and orbit mars? It's so funny that it took an entire continent for that effort. As a country, what is your identity in space? We don't have an ASIAN space agency like you, if we did, we already would have achieved more than you.

Let Us care about our massive starving population, Your European empire looted us enough and now let us do the damage control.

Our Chandrayan found water on moon and MOM will find some important data too.

Why don't you rich, highly intellectual beings fund ISRO and see how brilliantly they will surprise you. Sedna would be just the beginning. If you cannot then keep your butt hurt *** away from this and stop trolling. Your Pre-colonial mindset will never change.

Space X, Dream Chaser and so on are ready by next year. Its called evolution. People forget that between the Saturn V and the Space Shuttle were also 10 years without an option. That doesn´t mean we jump on pathetic little capsules.

Now forgive me that i´m not that interested in your 50 year old capsule design. Dawn just arrived at Ceres and New Horizons will soon arrive at Pluto and our JUNO is on her way to Jupiter..

If you don´t see the redesign of obsolete concepts as waste of money ... good for you.

Just to show the differences in development...while india funds a 50 year old technology...

What took the highly intelligent beings so long to design such a high technology space craft. SPACE X and NASA are ESA? Why are you cheerleading their achievement in SPACE? are you trying to say you all are one team or something?

And why are you using their little Space capsules to reach ISS? Did you de-evolve? What happened to your evolution?

We will fund whatever we want to fund. That 50 year old technology is reliable and we would want to go for it. Make your super engine into a prototype first. Meanwhile we are happy with our agency.

Now forgive me while I ignore your colonial attitude and let you continue your cheerleading for NASA.

We have shared contracts. And yep ESA and NASA are virtually one. The west stands as one block. Thats a form of organisation you don´t know. The Space Shuttle for example was co developed from NASA / ESA and the Canadian space agency. Hubble too is ESA and NASA.

And while you start cheerleading for stoenage technology, i enjoy the newest picture from Rosetta:

rosetta-shadow-690x394.jpg

It made a picture of its own shadow. :D

And i have no colonial attitude. If i would have a colonial attitude i would want to rule over you. Thats not the case. You guys simply amuse me.

As for the engine. We already have the prototype running

So you will bully an emerging space agnecy? Why do you bother anyways?

I don´t bully your space agency. I just say it goes the cheap way and is in no way adding any value.

I give you that you have talented people there but i can tell you their talent is wasted. Why wasting rescources and money in an obsolete technology? Does humanity really need another LEO-capsule?

We currently plan a mission to Europa. Go on and suprise us. Let your scietists make our mouth drop open and support us and push humanity as a whole forward. Go where nobody was before. There are so many places in the solar system we know almost nothing about yet. Evry world we arrive at is totally different than what we expected.

There are so many things you could so.

Look, our jupiter mission is on its way and we plan a lander on Europa. What if India sends a 2nd craft that also goes into orbit around Jupiter, allowing our machines to communicate and explore the system basicly in stereo.

We also plan another lander on Titan and have no plans yet to visit Enceladus. That could be your mission.

Or if you want an entire new field...there are two gigantic ice giants waiting out there. Uranus and Neptune

I give you that MOM was important for you and a great sucess. It shows you can do interplanetary missions and i see this as far more important than constructing an obsolete system like this capsule.

I might also add that ESA is a great supporter of your space agency. ESA let you fill out our launch schedule. When ours is full we give the launch to you.

Our deep space network helped to track MOM and send the communcation as well as the trajectory.

And you say MOM is first time that a mars mission was sucessful at first try. Thats true. NASA had failures and ESA had failures and the russians never reached Mars. But you foget too mention that our ESA Mars Express contacted MOM on her final approach and allowed your craft to navigate in real time.

You have no space station and no goal in LEO. Your obsolete capsule is only an expensive joy ride without purpose. You can get it much cheaper when you book into our systems in that aspect and concentrate on the real thing.
