India to be fastest-growing economy globally in both 2022 and 2023: IMF

As I get older, my imagination falters, so I can't really imagine peace and prosperity being the driving factors in the relationship between India and Pakistan. The leadership is only a reflection of the mood of the people, and to be frank with you, in my estimation, the mood on both sides is quite ugly.
I shall continue to be impertinent and to hope. This is an ugliness that has been lovingly crafted, and can be undone, it is not impossible. Improbable; in India, at least, the liberal segment is being hunted down and stabbed to death, metaphorically, with pitchforks. There is no harm hoping.

It was once conventional wisdom that no Indian city can beat Mumbai when it comes to big companies. But Bengaluru is on the verge of busting that idea. Already more number of unicorns by a wide margin :woot:

Mumbai has been sucked dry and have been slowly dying for the last 40 years. Its death has been slow for people to take notice, but its real.

NCR and Bangalore has surpassed Mumbai w.r.t development, dynamics and opportunity.

In fact, today there are many cities in India that rival mumbai. Hyderabad, Chennai, Surat, Ahmadabad, Baroda, Indore, Cochin, etc.

Port Led Development: Sagarmala Mission Expanded To 1,537 Projects, To Be Completed With Rs 6.5 Lakh Crore (84.5 Billion $)

The Union government has increased the number of projects under the Sagarmala mission to 1,537 from the earlier 802 projects.

These port and coastal area development projects will be developed with Rs 6.5 lakh crore.

Out of these, 202 projects worth Rs 99,281 crore have been completed. Further, more than 200 projects worth Rs 2.12 lakh crore are under construction and expected to be completed in two years.

“A total of 29 projects worth Rs 45,000 crore have been successfully implemented under PPP model, thus, reducing the financial burden on the exchequer. Additional 32 PPP projects worth Rs 51,000 Crore are currently being implemented,” the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) said.

Also, in line with PM Gati Shakti initiatives and the port connectivity pillar of Sagarmala, MoPSW carried out an intensive exercise to find the connectivity gaps.

Based on the consultation with Major Ports and State Maritime Boards, a list of 52 last mile road connectivity projects has been identified and shared with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for assessment and development. Similarly, 28 last-mile rail connectivity projects have been identified and conveyed to MoRTH for assessment and development.

The increase of projects under the Sagarmala mission was announced in the National Sagarmala Apex Committee (NSAC) meeting chaired by Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush, held on Friday (6 May).

The NSAC is the apex body providing policy directions and guidance for port-led development under Sagarmala projects and reviews its implementation.

The NSAC was constituted in May 2015 by the Union Cabinet. It is chaired by the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways with Cabinet Ministers from stakeholder central Ministries and Chief Ministers and Administrators of Maritime States and Union territories as members.

I've been thinking about this, and one thing I have noticed is that while all my Indian friends I'm in touch with continue to remain liberal, they accept that a growing segment of the population in India has actually themselves moved to the right. Do you know any Liberal friends of yours who have abandoned liberalism in favour of reactionary politics? Do you think we will see any Liberal resurgence in India anytime soon?

No, not one. But a lot of people whom we thought to be normal have shown themselves in an unexpected light, as a variety of right-wingers: either enthusiasts about a totally illusory administrative efficiency, or equally enthusiastic cheerleaders for the unicorns who are popping up like mushrooms, or quiet, but convinced believers in the need for Hindus to re-assert themselves (leaving to a side the prickly question of what they thought was happening all this while), to the ideologues who converted their severe, serious personal failings into a hatred of a manufactured other, finally to the hegemons, the upper castes, who believe that it is time for a righting of the wrongs.

That was for your first question.

For the second, no, not in my lifetime, perhaps in that of my daughter, most certainly, I hope, in the lifetime of my grandson. To explain why would take all your patience to read.

This is due to rupee devaluation. Hige growth in wages in INR terms, almost doubled since before pandemic.

Ridiculous logic -

1. Does that mean Rs devalued by half, if their income doubled?
2. The highest growth recorded in past 6 years is about 1.5%, so I very much doubt your claim of doubling the income.

I am talking from my personal experience, not some graphs. Rate of labour in any work has increased by 50-100%. Inflation can be one of the reason, another is currency devaluation and the 3rd one is increased demand. Demand is soaring despite inflation.

Half in our colony didn't have an air conditioner a year ago, today you will find it hard to find a house without air conditioner in our colony.

This is getting even more ridiculous. Why should that be of any relevance here? On one hand I gave you statistics, on other hand you give me your "personal experience".
Are you telling me your personal experience is more relevant than the research here?
