India slow to expand Iran port

So in a nutshell Iran can approach China to speed up the construction and the necessary funding for the port. If China builds the port then it's certain that Chabahar will be linked with Gwadar port!

. . .
Tell them after 2016 all pak crossings are closed
Thats exactly why Afghanistan has no option but Chabahar and Iranian railway and road networks! Pakistan, being a helper and abuser of Afghanistan, cannot remain the only option for trade for Afghanistan.

build the chahbahar port as an option for the afghans
now do the afghans make use of it ? it is another story
Why wont they? are they idiots who wont see the obvious benefits in it?

@SOHEIL. Despite Sanction on Iran.. India imported oil from Iran.. both countries worked out finding solution for payment...
India played Iran because yes India bought oil, but INdia did not make any payment then told Iran she must collect money in rupees. India took advantage, so dont make it look like India was doing Iran any REAL favours. CHina took advantage too.

.
Forgive me but you're misquoting me:
I said give credit where it is due -- not respect
For example the credit (or responsibility) for the rape and torching of about a thousand Gujrati Muslims goes to Modi.

Whether, thus Modi qualifies for respect is another matter altogether.

You have your own opinion..so does mine..I can understand your frustration with Modi..It gives us immense pleasure when rivals gets upset with any of our leaders...Anyway, at least he is not making India as a terrorist hub with non state actors sending them through out the world.

Not entirely true, both countries worked out for a solution during Sanction...

During his recent visit, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had told Iranian officials that India was committed to making the payment as and when banking channels, acceptable to both sides, were available. Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals, Essar Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, HPCLMittal Energy and Indian Oil had imported Iranian oil when the sanctions were in place. At that time, India made 45% of the payments in the rupee.

The arrears were to be paid when the banking channels started working for Iran. Although most of the sanctions are now lifted, Iranian banks are yet to be integrated into the global banking system, making payment still a problem. According to sources here, Iran plans to utilise the $6.5 billion to boost its domestic infrastructure besides investments in the energy sector.

Where is iranian friends, who rolled out red carpet for india, knowing well about the implication? Perhaps silence suits better in this situation.

Why wouldn't we use it ? The traffic via pakistan routes has already dropped significantly. It has dropped because we are slowly finding alternative and cheap routes and also routes which are not dependant on Pakistani mode swings.

I don't know much about the authors but I can tell you these the work on the project has taken pace and the Afghan traders are happy with the way things are going thus far.

care to Mention couple of those alternative routes going toward indian ocean ???
i guess even USA fail to find any !

You have your own opinion..so does mine.

I'd like to correct you here again -- the last time you misquoted me ... this time I'm afraid, you have misunderstood me.

So what I said before implies you are free to respect Modi sab -- I only said I gave him credit for his dealing with the Muslim world not respect.

I would not be able to respect a mass murder -- it is against my ethos (as I would imagine it would be against the ethos of most of humanity -- perhaps I expect too much)

I can understand your frustration with Modi..

This is indeed fascinating -- as you can understand something I do not feel -- I don't feel any frustration with Modi sab -- I am just disappointed that Humanity continues to produce mass murderers and mass rapists in the 21st century. I am as disappointed and disgusted by him as I would be by say: Hafeez Saeed, Chaushesku, Saddam Hussain, and the other like great humanitarians (sarcasm).

It gives us immense pleasure when rivals gets upset with any of our leaders...

This is again fascinating ... that you feel pleasure at (what you perceive to be) my agony (ok you call it frustration). I wonder what kind of a human being can feel pleasure at another human being's agony (ok again, you call it frustration).

For example -- if by some cruel turn of reality, Hafeez Saeed (who has the blood of approximately 180 human beings and not several hundred humans burnt, butchered and raped to death) became the Prime Minister of Pakistan; I would not feel pleasure (let alone immense pleasure) that you, or those affected by his cruel handiwork, would feel. How disgusting would that be (I shiver)?

Anyway, at least he is not making India as a terrorist hub with non state actors sending them through out the world.

Well I think he's smarter than that -- he's breeding them in Afghanistan and sending them to Pakistan.

Further, I'm not a nationalist -- I feel it is just one mechanism which pits one set of humanity against another -- but I have to say again: thank you Jinnah sab, thank you -- you saw, then that a mass murderer of Muslims such as Modi could become the Prime Minister of India.

China has to distant from Chahbahar case for a while. We'll concentrated on Pakistani port first. If CPEC goes as it's planned it could drag in Afghanistan and Iran later. When both Afghan and Iran goods need to run through the Gwardar port it'll make CPEC more solid and attractive.

We should not work with CPEC and another Afghan corridor at the same time.

mmm, India is very poor at execution

Article here, excerpts below:

....

On a recent visit, roughly 13 years after India first agreed to develop the port of Chabahar, a single ship floated at the main jetty. Most of the cargo containers scattered in an asphalt lot bore the logo of the state-owned Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines. In an adjacent harbour, a dozen wooden dhows, or traditional fishing boats, bobbed in the water.

...

“They should’ve given the contract to the Chinese,” said Zheng Ke, a 37-year-old businessman from China, speaking in Persian at his supermarket in Chabahar’s free trade zone as Iranian customers snapped up Chinese-made clothes and kitchen utensils and streamed through check-outs staffed by Chinese workers. “ They’d get the port done in no time.”
the highlight here is that 37-year old Chinese business speaks Persian! kudos to him!

The chahabar route goes through Afghanistan. Trucks will be robbed at gun point. Till Afghanistan has law and order this is a dead horse.

Indians only leading Iran on with Chahabar lies for their own gain. Focus on CPEC and then when Afghanistan is peaceful Chahabar should be developed properly and quickly and Iran coming into Pak-Russia-China-Turkey nexus.
