India should market LCA Tejas Trainer has lead-in fighter trainer (LIFT)

Mid-air refuelling is the biggest problem.

And increasing AoA to 28 is still pending. Tejas has a long long way to go before it can be cleared for induction

As for BVR,This was reported in October.

"Military sources say Tejas SP-1 flew for 25 minutes and touched a maximum speed of 0.6 Mach.Maiden outing without telemetry support seen as a morale booster for HAL, ADA, NFTC teams.

Tejas likely to fire #DebryBVRAAM and #PythonAAM missiles soon(approx 3 months).

2 test variants of Tejas currently on a '#bombingmission' in Jaisalmer. New bombs (250 kg & 450 kg) being tested."

LCA update #1: Cobham IFR and quartz radome expected to be delivered by November.

LCA update #2: Gun firing demonstrated from ground to user for all necessary parameters. Airborne testing in Jamnagar.

LCA update #3: Angle of Attack up to 26 degrees demonstrated. More testing is underway.

LCA update #4: Derby carriage trials Mid-October. Test firing by end-October. Dr TamilMani says piece of cake.

LCA update#5: IFR is not an issue once the assembly is actually delivered. Some more air to ground weapons are also being integrated.

LCA update #6: SP-1 is a completely debugged version of LSP-8 and is performing very well according to Dr Tamil Mani.

And we should go all out for mk2.

I wish they finish this 40 MK-1 order and the mean time flow the first prototype of Mk-2 next year. About export thing of Mk-1, Hal/DRDO should give it(Design and all) to any Private Company of India and let it decide what it will do. It should help that company in setting up a production line and do not interfere in its work afterwards. Retired experience people and new comers will be helpful in setting up a Pvt. Manufacturing Industry.

Installing a refeuling probe and conducting an air refueling operation is the difference between heaven and hell.

Soon. The word soon has been used way too much regarding LCA. Also we need R-77 tested out on Tejas. Derby with 50km range is not so important. R-77 110km range is the real deal.

AoA has to be 28 degrees. Closing to 26 up from 24 means very long way to go.

I hope you dint mean Mach 0.6 as an achievement. SP-1 must demonstrate 1.6 mach if not 1.8.

Mk2 design is not yet complete. Validation is pending. Before a prototype HAL will make a TD. 3 years at minimum before Mk2 exists in the physical form. Right now just on drawing board.

Offically in 1983.
you do realize that ADA is the design agency for LCA, you might want to revisit that one as ADA was not commissioned until 87 .. Design was approved in 1990 and phase I for PD approved in 1993..... I recommend not looking at your own national development from a pakistani prism.

I said its better trainer for now as its in production while tejas is yet to get foc.

Plus its in different league as its subsonic while tejas is supersonic.

Hongdu is ready gor expor,so is yak-130 and bangladesh has already ordered 24 of them.

Similarly t-50 golden eagle is ready and will compete for usa competition soon.
Russians have yak-130 for themselves.

Whom are u going to sell this to??sri lanka??bhutan??burma??
Plus there is no timeline for clearing the foc and most importantly HAL cannot manufacture more than 8 tejas per year at present.
