India seeks nod from China on UN Council seat

.
All the chiness members here are saying all this as if they are Hu jintao or wen jia bao or any high level official in cpc..!

The fact is you ppl are ordinary chiness like all Indian members here. so, don't talk on behalf of your Gov. we(Indians) know that it will be hard to get support from China on this matter but China has'nt denied any support "officially" yet..! And in diplomacy and foriengh policy's things change very frequently and every big desicion is taken after taking into consideration the long term impact of that desicion in future by think-tanks and Gov. officials of that country.... So, i can say personally that i dont have much hope that china will back India...but still lets see what will happen cause nothing is official yet..there are just predictions everywhere...:))

"Too simple sometimes naive"
Any directly official denial of indian's request of support will be considered rude or politeness so China will try not to do it or at least not to make it looks too straightforward. But what beyond the line is still the same and foreign policies or principles(based on interests of course) of powers seldom change:: it is not China and other four countries' interests to witness an expansion or dilution of their privilege of veto.

Not worry India...if we got you an NSG waiver, we'll get you into UNSC as well. I wonder what my government is asking for in return. Chinese government made noises at the NSG as well. Nothing happened. So will the case be at UNSC. India is making all the right noises - for one voting alongside the US and not against us as has been the historical case. For that, we thank you.

A true confession from an Indian, you really believe people will take you seriously as an American? perhaps you first need to work on your south-asian english:lol: and may be a little less concern with issues related to Indians.

I don't understand this Indian obsession with the UNSC - it is more of a headache than an asset. It means we poke our noses into affairs which are not ours to begin with - like coups in South America or famines in Africa. Fact is, there is one superpower - USA - which does what it wants irrespective of the stand of the other members of the UNSC - if the UNSC rejects an American proposal to invade let's say - Venezuela - what are China, UK, France and Russia going to do? Declare war on USA? Rubbish.

And if we have issues - let's say with Pakistan or Bangladesh or Nepal and we decide that we will take military action - do you think these UNSC resolutions would stop India from pulling its weight in its region of influence?

Thank you for your wisdom. I am a worshipper of Bhagwan Ram. And I just changed my citizenship to India to please your pad thai self.

Earlier the UNSC seat that is currently held by China was held by Taiwan - if China refuses to toe the line, it might well be that the democratic and less autocratic regime in Taipei holds the UNSC seat of China rather than Peking. Indian entry would then be much easier - plus it makes more sense to have a democratic Taipei hold the seat for Chinese people rather than a despotic Peking.

It would only be restoration of the earlier arrangement - of course Peking could be allowed a representative office in the UN. It has happened before - while the Taliban controlled Kabul and 90% of Afghanistan, they only had a representative office while the Afghan seat in the UN was still held by the Northern Alliance. The administration in Peking can have same representation as Taliban had when in control of Kabul.

Reality is hard to swallow.

that's bizarre....i thought bharat was a 'secular' country

i.e. you dont have to be hindu or worship rams to be an 'indian' (or rather, prove your 'indian-ness') ;)
