India’s Quiet Counter-China Strategy

Even without nuclear weapons, Pakistan has done very well against India in conventional conflicts. Especially considering the size difference.

So even without nuclear weapons, a smaller adversary can often hold back a much larger adversary. There are many examples in history, Vietnam for one.

I would not be so sure. I think India backed off because it would have damaged their own economy too much to go to war with Pakistan.

If Chinese govt is not worried about the Media then what is this:

Wen upset with negative Indian media coverage
Wen upset with negative Indian media coverage

Incredible you think complain about India's bad manners as a host is the same thing as internal stability being threaten inside China? No one is denying that the Govt. carefully controls and micro-manages the media inside China but to place say that Chinese people put weight on what Indian media says is delusion of self-importance.

No Indian media outlets have been banned in China. India is not the leader of the democratic offensive in China, it is a 2nd rate follower.

That's right, to get contracts and export deals.

Without having to give up anything much on our end.

What does that have to do with anything?

Well, so there is the bargaining chip that you were hunting around about.

So, if the Chinese leader (I don't remember the names since Hu and Wen are not familiar names except in the context of the usage in the English language) had nothing to do in India, why did he come?

The only thing one could speculate is - to have some fresh air and see if all this thing about freedom in democracy is true or not?

I take your point buddy. We are highly dissatisfied with corruption in India. And it effects our poor the most.

Some study recently said that China and Russia are more corrupt that India. That doesn't make me happy or want to pontificate to them.

They will deal with it the best they can as we will do with ours.

I am not surprised one bit. Afterall China is almost 3 times bigger and holds a greater population than India. You cannot 100% rule out corruption. The important part is to not let it affect the upper most power. China managed to blossom so rapidly in the last 30 years and pull so many people out of poverty because they are better at curbing corruptions.

I have said it before and I will repeat it again. I've always regarded India as a great nation will plenty of opportunities to shine in the future. India just needs to knuckle down and lay down the foundation work better. This way it will blossom into a beautiful flower. The way India is competing out of short-sightedness isn't good and will only prolong all its existing problems.

I would not say that China is better at curbing corruption, more like China has had effective leadership and planning in-spite of corruption while India continues to allow corruption to affect the important steps in its development.

So, if the Chinese leader (I don't remember the names since Hu and Wen are not familiar names except in the context of the usage in the English language) had nothing to do in India, why did he come?

Like I said, they came for contracts and export deals.

Our current trade balance with India is strongly in our favour. And somehow, we still managed to get a promise from the Indian government, to increase the trade level to something like $100 billion per annum.

If I were in your position, I wouldn't be too happy with that. But I guess there is a perspective difference.

If I may remind you all the Big Five countries including China, came calling one after another last year.

And there was a world of difference in the tone of the Chinese visit compared to the others.

We are not fighting China any time soon, however much you wish for that. ;)

Why would we want China to go to war with India? We don't want to see the Chinese people or infrastructure suffer.
You may not believe it, but we don't want to see Indian people die either.

Yes because while they have visited democracies around the world, they went to India because India is the model of democracy while places like Canada and Sweden continues to suffer under transparency problems and corruption scandals.

When a country became rich from the poor, There will be money worship and corruption. Only a sound legal system and a prosperous life can solve this problem.

The time when Western countries are poor, their corruption is more serious than we are now.
So we certainly believe that CPC can solve the problem of corruption.

our friendship with china is an example to the world!

yeah u r right, its a classic example !!!!

of a country (in this case China) mollycoddling another country (in this case my country, Pakistan) to further its interest. When we will learn, that China is just using us to keep India engaged on the this front and nothing much.

We should stop listening to what India does or China says .... the rot is in our system ... and China wont even bother to help us out in that ... It is us who have to make our hands dirty ...

Well said. Instead, I should have said that China is honored to have great leadership thus allowing us to deal with corruption better.

We are talking about foreign relations here. Do try to focus and keep you Hindutva obsession in check.

I made an Interesting observation. Since Islam has such great importance in Pakistan, many pakistanis assume that India also places equal importance in hinduism. But indians have largely figured out the trick to seperate relegion and governance. I assume that is the reason for its economic performance. using this argument one can see how a "godless" china achieved 10% growth.

there's more. The best of the best pakistanis join the army, while indian defence organizations get the leftovers as the good ones opt for lucrative jobs .

Global Politician - Indian Army faces Massive Shortage of Officers

Indian Army faces a dire shortage of officers because the booming private sector is recruiting the best talent. The private sector, which has been luring away India 's best talent by offering hefty wages and generous perks and the government and the services, simply cannot compete in matters of salary and perks with the corporate world.
