Also at the end of the peice:

"There is a feeling in the government that Brig Rawat has a very “aggressive track record” which could have escalated tensions on the LoC at a time when the nine-year-old ceasefire was holding up well. An inquiry into the incident has been ordered by Army Headquarters and a decision on Brig Rawat could also be taken in the coming days."

The most noticeable point here is and i feel for the last some period that Indian Army is bypassing Indian govt in some cases which was not the situation before.

This should be something worrisome for the Indian Govt not LoC at the moment since that is intact but a crack in through proper channel for India is indeed something the begining of bad taste for major quarters in India

Just came across this article.

Indians are now admitting that they started this round of LOC skirmishes by violating ceasefire.

Now we know why they did not want an impartial inquiry. The GOI knew and could not entertain the possibility of a neutral party making an inquiry into this matter. Kudos to journalists across the border for exposing this.

The desire for peace is much stronger than calls for war on both sides of the border. Now we know who is who on this forum too.

Mods, I felt that this news was important enough to merit a thread, because it points to an ever-present trend. Namely arrogance of many Indians who assume that Pakistanis are just dying to have peace.

Thanks for posting this article that provides a different perspective from the ones I had read before. I'd like to point out that it is one among many advanced by Indian media. However, that does not mean it is not true.

I'd still say that regardless of who started it, the PA response - if it happened (not proved yet)- of mutilation goes against any norm of warfare between two professional armies.

Pakistanis are the biggest cowards and war-mongerers (read: chutiyas) in the world. Enough said.

On the contrary they have a professional army that would rightly be ranked among the best in the world, and one which has shown time and again that it does not lack for brave men.

There is great value in using Indian media to refute allegations by Indians. There are peace-lovers on both sides. That is the major point. Sadly there are war mongers too.

The article reveals that this has been happening since long from both the sides.

How come only this time it got so much media attention?

Because of the dastardly act of chopping off a soldier's head and taking it away as a 'war trophy' which is barbaric and against all norms of civilized behavior, violating the Geneva Conventions. No disciplined Army will do this. Speaks volumes on the ethos of the PA. Nuff said.

Even if it is presumed that the PA weren't directly responsible for this dastardly act of chopping off a soldier's head, they obviously knew that the LeT yahoos who formed part of their BAT (Border Action Team) were doing so. Why did they allow them to do this? It amounts to abetment of the crime and tacit approval.

For info, there were 3 jawans returning to their post from their duties as forward observers near the LoC when they were attacked by a BAT (Border Action Team) consisting of about 20 SSG and LeT terrorists about 400m inside our territory.
