What's new

India now 6th largest producer of power in the world

hey buddy, i heard Pune don't have much public transportation like BRTS etc... is that true... by the am marrying pune girl...

Transportation is bad in pune; no metro, BRTS (only 20-30 km and not functioning properly).
To travel in pune, 150 cc two wheeler is best.

but city itself is good, with multipleses, malls and other things...

oh, my fiancee got car.... No more bykes ....

.
But still 6 hour loadsheddings in India...

How do you know? Have you been here lately or read any article?

From West Bengal(Kolkata), I can say that load-sheddings have reduced dramatically over the past couple of years.....don't know why(no new power-plants were built.......better management I guess).

We used to have 1:30hrs/day of power-cuts on an average till 2 yrs ago......NOW, load-sheddings don't happen, power rarely goes off.....may be few mins/month......due to faults or failures as our infrastructure is not that good........power theft is also an issue....

But I guess, there are remote villages where electricity is yet to reach.....

I understand that but going inside main city in car is tough job.

but car is good for long distances...

you can also visit lonavla, Mahabaleshwar
and also historical forts of Shivaji Maharaj.. a good trekking experience...

. . . .
I have heard from Indians there are powercuts everyday even in big cities.
Plus 60% of Indians live in rural areas.
India at night.....all 2,11,766 MW of power surging through its veins!!

are you from bengal??because I'm...

and I'll say the same thing..only few years ago,we'd face some power cuts even in autumn and winter, not to mention in summer..but now, even in summer,w rarely face any power cuts..and I'm not from any city..I'm from a little town..even I heard that West Bengal in some season has surplus electricity, which they give it to other states..and in summer, they get it from them..now imagine,if a 3rd class state like West Bengal has this condition,no wonder other states like Hariyana or Punjab has far better condition...

by the way...

The electricity sector in India had an installed capacity of 225.133 GW as of May 2013.that places us the world's fifth largest electricity producer...but we have to produce more and more as still a vast amount of people doesn't have electricity..India is doing the right thing by making electricity from many rivers, which some of our neighbours object..

You try to sound like you are not an Indian. But the fact is that you are just as much as an Indian as any Indian in here. And all your posts are what an Indian would post, not what an American would post.

Leaving your leaking gallbladder aside, how do you think you sound?

Me too....

....I heard that West Bengal in some season has surplus electricity, which they give it to other states..and in summer, they get it from them......

So that's the reason we no longer have power-cuts during summer....I was wondering how things changed without increase in power production...

I guess the upcoming nuclear power plants will have some effect once operational.......but there are massive Anti-nuclear protests....

:ashamed: Extreme power cuts here in N.E ...though Guwahati city has steady supply nowadays the rural areas (where i m living currently) suffer from 1 hour load shedding every night 7-8pm. Condition in manipur is like Pakistan, minimum of 6 hour power cut every day .. other states except for Arunachal ,suffer from power cuts too..

.
there has been virtually no power cut in my city (hyderabad) from last 8 months ( before that we used to have a power cut of 45mins -1hr ) thats it..... the pwer cuts are mainly restricted to the tier 3 cities and villages.... but even there the situation is changing...

I can vouch for Bangalore too, as I was there last summer...literally NO more power cuts...Yes there are certain grid failures or due to maintenance but only for about 15 mins...not sure about other 2 tier cities like mysore and mangalore...
