India not behind every trouble in Pak: Gilani - Indian Express
Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said the situations in Karachi and Balochistan were totally different and that India is not behind every trouble in the country.
Insisting that the government is taking every possible step to restore peace in Karachi, Gilani said that it is up to the Sindh government to decide whether or not to call in the Army to deal with the chaotic situation in the city.
He said that Pakistans security issues were linked to the conflict in Afghanistan, adding: The situation in Pakistan wont improve until there is normalcy in Afghanistan.
He also emphasised that Pakistan would never compromise on its strategic national interests, The News reports.
Talking about its nuclear assets, he said, We have our own national interests and Pakistan will continue to work to protect them, The News reports.
On Friday, five people were killed and over six injured in a number of incidents in different parts of Karachi.
Tension spread in Baldia Town over the killing of a young man and wounding of over six others, including a policeman and a woman in a clash between two groups in Saeedabad.
Violence continued in Karachi despite political parties'' efforts for the restoration of peace.
Pakistan has been accusing India of its involvement in the Balochistan conflict, saying that it supplies arms and ammunition there through Afghanistan.
