though Hindi is extremely useful and being born in Indore gave me a good grasp in Hindi in my early years. I think it’s a matter of pride for me to be fluent in the national language.
added benefit is for Indians and Pakistanis to bond abroad due to the commonality between Hindi and Urdu.

I don't think this is the right move. English is a global language and it gives many Indians the edge over people from other nationalities simply because we are taught English from 1st grade. It's better that India keeps looking outward instead of looking inwards.

I have a feeling that private schools will gain some sort of exemption from this. This will lead to a rush of enrollment in private schools and then we will finally see the complete privatization of education in India.

Dude I was no.1 harami right from school days. There were other things to learn from girls apart from her language.....

either that or the elite will send their children to high end tutors during their formative years, as a result correcting what Indians are famous for, their “horrid” accent.
I seriously believe that the accent is a result of who teaches you pronounciation and how.

Newalkars (Jhansi state), Pawars (Dewas State, Dhar State, Chhatarpur State), Bhonsales(Nagpur and Thanjavur), Patwardan(Jamkhandi), Bhave(Ramdurg) and other small states like Kolhapur, Sangli, Bhor, Mudhol, Sawantwadi, Phaltan, Ramdurg, etc.

I think one of the most significant developments of the education reform is an SAT type system for college entrance.

the board system and the pressure that comes with it is why half of indian students are “ratta” champions.

forget the English, this alone will change the entire way our children progress through higher education.
I would focus on this aspect of the reform.
