Our boys hardly participate in this international math Olympiad. We have so many of our our own exams conducted by various bodies . You may think that you have scored high in International math Olympiad but we do not give much importance to these sort of substandard exams. We have amazing schools and hyper brilliant students. We have the schools where standard 6th students speaks 6 languages. We have the schools where students write two different things with two hands. We have the schools where students study from morning 5 am to 11 pm in night for 3 years without even a single holiday in 3 years. Ours is not a stereo type of education system. We have many different visions of education and many people work to put their vision in reality. That is why our boys shines where ever they go and top in higher education. Our brilliant generation is right now in making. when they will come in market in different fields, world will see the education power of India. If i get a time I will start a thread on different schools of India. I recommend you to google ISHA Sanskriti school and see the video. We have so many of such schools working on different visions.

And If I this as face value, there is only one Chinese institute among 29 and that too on 28th Number. Do you really think that Chinese education is so poor that a country like Australia with just 2% population of china is so ahead of china in education? No I really do not think so. I think china is much ahead in education compared to these BS countries such as Australia. Just because they pay in their local currency which is Dollar which is priced much higher than its purchase power value, the figures appears very high. In US, 5 K USD may be a normal package for a moderately educated guy. this turns out to be 3.3 lakh INR which is just Toooooo much here. You will get this package if you are in a very senior position. You can live like a king with this money in India and may be in CHina while in US, you have to live a very ordinary and simple life. If your package is 5k USD in india, your children can study in a very good school, you can keep a dricer for your car and helpers in home for all house hold work own a car, go to restaurant as many time as you wish , live in a posh house and still save 50%+ money (May be same is true for china) . So packages in India if converted in other currencies looks very less but it is very very high in a country like India. So do not try to always see frm this angle because it has so many limitations.

I have seen the papers of math Olympiad in India and the similar one of UK. There is absolutely no comparison.

Objectively speaking, India is pretty serious about its participation to the IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad). This runs contrary to your comment above saying "we do not give much importance to these sort of substandard exams".

The Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) is a high school mathematics competition held annually in India since 1989. It is the second tier in the Indian team selection procedure for the International Mathematical Olympiad and is conducted by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) under the aegis of the National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM)

The INMO is conducted by the MO Cell which is held on the third Sunday of January at 30 centers across the country. Prospective candidates first need to write the Regional Mathematical Olympiad(known as RMO) of their respective state or region, usually held on the first Sunday of December of the previous year. Around thirty students are selected from each region, to write the INMO. The best-performing students from the RMO (approximately 900) qualify for the second stage INMO.

The International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC)
The qualifying students are invited to the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC), a one-month mathematics camp hosted by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education in Mumbai. For first time participants, it usually extends from late April till the end of May, while it begins about 10-14 days later for senior participants. In this camp, the students are taught Olympiad mathematics and some other general mathematics. Four selection tests and two practice tests are held during this period and the top six students in the selection tests qualify to represent India in the International Mathematical Olympiad.

Pre-departure Training Camp for IMO
The selected team of 6 students goes through another round of training and orientation for about 10 days prior to departure for IMO.

International Mathematical Olympiad
The six member team selected at the end of IMOTC accompanied by a leader, a deputy leader and an observer represents the country at the IMO, held in July each year in a different member country of the IMO. Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) finances international travel of the team, the leader and the deputy leader, while NBHM(DAE) finances the other expenditure connected with the international participation and the entire in-country programme.

Post-IMOTC training of qualified candidates for subsequent seasons
Students who qualify the INMO once and come to attend the IMO Training Camp are sent postal problems during the period July -- December that they have to solve and send back (if they are still in school). Based on their responses, some of the students are invited to the IMO Training Camp the next year directly. Others have to rewrite the INMO again (they do not have to write the Regional Mathematics Olympiad).

The pretty vigorous training program is designed to send the best candidates to the IMO. Participation is of course very high, and there is a lot of interest in joining due to the perks involved. Subhash Khot is a pretty motivating example for most young Indian students wanting to participate too.

Perks upon qualification

• Students qualifying the INMO are automatically eligible for admission to the B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics course in the [Chennai Mathematical Institute].
• Since 2008, INMO awardees applying for B. Stat or B. Math courses of the Indian Statistical Institute are directly called for the interview without having to write the written test.
• INMO awardees are also eligible for an NBHM scholarship that currently stands at about Rs. 2500 per month, if they continue their studies in mathematics. They are also offered a 4-year programme of training in Mathematics through correspondence and periodic contact with a chosen faculty. The programme is also available to INMO awardees who do not pursue an undergraduate degree in Mathematics but have special interest in the subject. They are offered an annual cash award of Rs. 9,000 subject to satisfactory performance in the programme.
• Students who make it to the IMO are eligible for the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) fellowship provided they pursue their studies in the science subjects in India. The fellowship amount stands at Rs. 5000 per month.
• Indian team members who receive a gold, silver or bronze at IMO are given cash awards by the NBHM of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 3,000 respectively.
• All travel expenses for the IMO Training Camp and all expenses for the IMO are borne by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

India sure produces some good managers, doctors, engineers, but it does mean you have a good national education system. Just like some Indians are in their 80's, 90's, but it does change the fact that the average Indian life expectancy is 67 years.

Don't use a few success stories to bad mouth other countries. Your claim that India has a better education system than that of US, Europe, Russia and China, is simply embarrassing.
