India May Acquire T 14 Armata Ahead of Dec 6 Putin Visit to Counter imbalance in Tank warfare against pakistan

. .
Russians must be happy to have a mark like India as a customer. Now it's buying an unproven -- though advanced -- tank. I know I'm repeating myself but tanks are something India should've developed on its own, along with assault rifles, light machine guns, etc. Both the army and air force seem to be marred with inefficiencies in the production sector. Only India's navy is doing a better job of shipbuilding.

If this government is serious about Indianizing defense manufacturing, it should leave it to the private sector instead of these dreadful PSUs Indian currently has.

Armata is yet to be mass produced . Even trial version (100) tanks will be delivered to Russian army in coming years .that gives is atleast a decade to come up with our own techs to match

.
Amusing. While the army has evinced interest in the Armada, they have given no concrete proposal to the govt on numbers. If the Armenian Azerbaijan conflict hadn't happened, IA would have convinced GoI to atleast sign an MoU on this similar to AK47 or the Kamov deal (which then later requires AoN, then DAC, then MoD, CCS approvals etc).
T90 tanks upgradation itself would need billions of dollars with latest APS. Then there is ICV project is hanging for more than a decade which is supposed to come with anti tank missiles. There is great debate going on in MoD and Top army brasses if the Tank based strike corps is on its way out. Tanks are required for sure but the numbers would considerably decline.

Even in the age of UCAVs?

Russians solution to ucavs
We have to... In this region of the world, tanks still have a dominant role to play.

Why doesn’t Pakistan look into converting old tanks into IFV’s?

The Armata will swing the balance from where it is on a closer to even keel right now. But then its another 10 years to absorb it fully and essentially would mean the Arjun gets pushed back on the procurement ladder.

Is it that good? even against the modern TOW's ?

Not just this region, tanks is still very revelant in the whold world now and future, just because there are some footages of ucav hunting tanks from within 10km, doesnt mean the era of tank is over, because its the not their fault but the aa troops and airforce.

Armata will require better APFSDS. T90 led us to a policy of having DU penetrators on all tanks, even the 105MM armed upgraded Type59/69.

Have our airforce and airdefence gone on strike?

It will definitely bring edge to india

It is truely a masterpiece already ringed a bells of west

First time russia emphasis on crew protection and tank protectation in it self statevif the art multi layed

In future it will outgun any tank in pak army by putting 152 mm gun on it

No bro rusian equipment likes of tanks missile out clases usa and west
Egypt already asked russia to sopply them but once russian order be cleared than egypt can get them

Forget drones.. Just take 100 tanks and drive right at some insurgent element and witness the outcome... You will end up with 100 burning tanks within an hour... And that is against non state actors imagine if it was state actors that thing will be gone in minutes..

Tanks being used as offensive is over that era is gone... Tho you have to put it behind your conventional forces meaning you can only use them in defensive formations or attach it around alot of manpower to give it protection from all sides
