the 'indian space research organization' ( isro ) is american in creation and mostly western-supported in existence... can you name the microprocessor used on isro's rockets and satellites?? can you name the origin of the engines that pslv uses and the technology that glsv engine uses??

the first glsv flight-test had the rocket exploding soon after take-off and isro blamed some electrical wiring purchased from germany.

and launching satellites is no big deal... 'arca space'[1] is a small and private spaceship design company started by people from little romania and they have plans more ambitious than of isro.

taking humans into space is what defines a real space agency... i think the iranians will launch their first cosmonaut a lot sooner than india's isro.

what isro should be doing is scrapping all its pslv/gslv rockets and the useless spy satellites and concentrate on developing its space-plane project 'avatar' and involving the pakistanis and the russians.

Not since your founding as a nation but certainly so since the end of ww2. Prior to which the best science was done in Europe especially Germany and the best brains went to Europe to work.

America does have a huge advantage in having a phenomenal university system that does attract the best and brightest. This advantage may only be temporary. China has been steadily rising in university rankings and India is following suit.


We are now in a state of flux , there are many global inequalities of wealth and education. Once things settle down and it will, always has, the economic center of gravity will be wherever there are most number of human beings . Population counts. Brain power counts. I suspect that center of gravity will be somewhere in Asia a couple of centuries from now.

Having said that I don't thing any one man, even if he is the President of the united STates can really stop or reverse globalization. It is like a force of nature, water always flows downhill, air rushes in to fill a vacuum, so does capital and labor. Any funny legislation to change that will only make the US less competitive in the long term.

Evertything can be created in India, electronics, agriculture etc, we won't need to import those and money can circulate. But what we need to import is oil to run the country, which is present in middle east hence presence of US Army there. As our country develops, we would need more and more resources. Thorium based reactor or maybe fusion reactor will accelerate growth exponentially in future, we should be researching in that.
