India hails World Bank decision on Indus treaty

I guess you didn't pay concentration in your geography class.

China can't stop Brahmaputra's flow and they don't intend to.Because then,Bangladesh will become desert.Brahmaputra's flow is not extremely essential for India as we can't divert water from that river as Bangaldesh is the end user here. But of course, your madrassa trained brain can't contain and possess these complex infos.

Do you know what is most "Sissy" is,In every tribunal Pakistan gets beaten over IWT and yet they're not satisfied yet.
face it son, iwt is very heavily favoring Pakistan. that's why modi wants to pull out. But keep smoking what your smoking. whatever rocks your marbles!

. .
hey I'm just going off your own media reports that I've seen claiming that it is hurting your agriculture. So take it up with your media outlets, not me!

The minute India decides to stop the flow of water...China will do the same and divert the river to Pakistan. This will be expensive but not impossible.

.
LOL at these stupid Indians celebrating this verdict as a win. If anything the pause means nothing, but a deadlock. How some Indians are imagining this as a win just goes to show how stupid these people are.

I'm glad the Brits broke Hindustan into pieces. Who wants to be part of these pathetic whiners.

Haha... china will do this china will do that... china will divert rivers to pak...(joke of the day) cant u do something on ur own... why do u always look upto china... u people depend on china just like a child depends on his dad...

Like you depend on the Americans like they are your daddy. LOL Ever heard of NSG and how you are crying on Uncle Sam's shoulder and begging China for favors. Stupid two faced Indians. Can't feed your people and provide toilets, but want to act tough on a discussion forum.

The minute India decides to stop the flow of water...China will do the same and divert the river to Pakistan. This will be expensive but not impossible.

China already has and now we are going to cooperate with China to stop more water. These fvckers think they can use something as vital as water to blackmail millions of people. They are sorely mistaken.

NEW DELHI: India today said World Bank's decision to temporarily halt two simultaneous processes to look into Indo-Pak dispute over Kishenganga and Ratle project confirms that pursuing the two concurrent processes could have rendered the Indus Water Treaty unworkable over time.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said India remains fully conscious of its international obligations and is ready to engage in further consultations on the matter of resolving current differences
regarding these two projects.

"The government had pointed out on 10 November, 2016 the legal untenability of the World Bank launching two simultaneous processes-- for appointment of a Neutral Expert as requested by India and establishment of a Court of Arbitration requested by Pakistan-- to adjudicate technical differences between India and a Pakistan on Kishenganga and Ralte projects

"By temporarily halting both the processes now, the Bank has confirmed that pursuing the two concurrent processes can render the Treaty unworkable over time," Swarup said.

The World Bank's move to pause the process came nearly a month after India had strongly objected to the global body's "inexplicable" decision, saying going ahead with two separate mechanisms was "legally untenable".

Group President of World Bank Jim Yong Kim said,"We are announcing this pause to protect the Indus Waters Treaty and to help India and Pakistan consider alternative approaches to resolving conflicting interests under the Treaty and its application to two hydroelectric power plants."

The pause was announced by Kim in letters to the finance ministers of India and Pakistan. It was also emphasised that the Bank was acting to safeguard the Treaty.

Under the Indus Waters Treaty, signed between India and Pakistan and also the World Bank in 1960, the World Bank has a specified role in the process of resolution of differences and disputes.
Wb hasn't given some verdict in India favor or even cancelled investigation into t only postponed so Pak and India can self negotiate the f can't process would and it has not even said that it would continue investigation process which India so why Indian dancing like Monkey

Ab China ko activate karenge. At least the WB won't be able to say that we didn't approach them. If the WB/India seek a war on water, we will give them one.

Listen to me carefully you third grade illiterate simpleton...stop smoking cheap weed:) Most of the rivers come from China...therefore it's plausible to ask Beijing to divert their water away from India into Pakistan.

Apparently they don't teach physics, geography or even common sense in Pakistani madrasas. Unless Pakistanis believe that China is equivalent to God, a normal human being with an iota of grey matter would realize that it is scientifically impossible to divert a stream of water to higher ground via the Himalayas more than 3000 kms away to the great land of Pakistan. Check the map. The part of Brahmaputra that flows through China is just 1 of the several tributaries that feed into the Brahmaputra river system. Several others like Lohit originate in India. There are enough trolls here my friend. Please don't troll yourself. Thanks

Stop deceiving. Your country has on many occasions cried foul about Chinese interruption of water. China can without a shred of a doubt severely affect Indian flow of water and you know this too. If India wants to resort to water terrorism it shouldn't cry foul when others return the favor.

Ofcourse India will cry foul for every drop affected illegally by any country. But to say that diversion of Brahmaputra waters would affect India a lot is not a fact. Assam is the main state through which the river flows, and Assam is a mountainous state. Not agriculture intensive. However after Assam the river flows into Bangladesh which the single major river system in that country i.e its lifeline. Last I heard China was trying to gain influence over Bangladesh. Need I say more?

India can't shed crocodile tears and expect the world to take it seriously regarding its water concerns when it is constantly threatening to stop the flow of water in Pakistan's direction. We can have a trillion disagreements, but using water as a political tool against millions of people violates all norms.

All that the prime minister said is that India shall use the full quota of water resources it has been allocated as per the treaty. He never talked about stopping the water flow which again is not technically feasible.

Uhm no, right now the status quo favors Pakistan. That's why modi is crying about pulling out, he knows it favors Pakistan. You see? The brahmaputra river is all but gone for india, China releases the water when it wants to so india is at China's mercy. And because of that, india is now facing a sever water shortage. indian farmers are getting hurt. On top of that, modi has to abide by this agreement and give Pakistan it's share of the water as per this status quo. So modi wants to unilaterally pull out of this agreement so that he can fulfill this water shortage which, as we have stated as the national policy, will lead to war.

So this wb's pause at best, only gives india a chance to think over things. Because pause or no pause, our policy remains unchanged; touch our share of the water and it will be a war. Simple as that. And given how deeply bogged down 70% of the indian army is in kashmir right now, a war with Pakistan is not looking too good for india.
With due respect is there some study that is out there which made you believe what you just said?? If you are sharing some hearsay then don't even bother to reply....
