Give it time, Mumbai metro is Chinese and Isalmic Pak is ... hehe ... Commie China's 'All weather friend' ;).

Calcutta Metro- Russian, Delhi Metro - Korean, Hyderabad - L&T local Co., Bangalore and Jaipur also local Co.'s
other's I don't know.

India is now established in the metro business, the entire eco-system is localised and like Indian Made Foreign Liquor, all the bogies, motor's, tracks and signal stuff is over-overwhelmingly Made-in-India both by local and Global Corp.'s, and exported too. For eg. Canada's Bombardier and desi Co. BEML spit out metro bogies from their respective factories. Global content is ltd. and super-specialised, no problem.

India is full-time mega-train country, posting from India with experience.

By the way, elitist middle class Indians prefer flying at double the middle class train fares and don't bother with trains anymore because the middle class has gone upscale and Globalised, while the lower to lowest classes have moved in to the middle class rail, bus and peddle rickshaw eco-system. Middle class has moved on to the flying-&-radio taxi supra-system.

India is deep and multi-layered.

This is the Salt lake sector V .Its IT hub in kolkata.the center building is the wipro campus.u can see the almost finshed east west metro line initiated by mamta banerjee

From that perspective, Kolkata looks at least a bit neat and ordered.

send Lalu Prasad to Pakistan for a while.:smokin:

You can have Lalu any day :)

But just to clarify:
(a) Lalu is no longer the railway minister. Got replaced long ago.
(b) There was a lot of news about Lalu turning around indian railways, etc. Not all of it was found to be correct by the future railway ministers.
(c) Most of the pics posted on this forum are of Metro sites of various cities. None of them come under the purview of Indian Railways (thankfully)... Each is an independent project.
(d) The indian railways modernization program has been very slow to take off, especially compared to countries like China... only recently have truly 'transformational' projects started getting planned, and are now starting construction like Delhi Mumbai freight corridor, or a few High Speed Corridors, or the National Capital Regional Rapid Transit System. Let's hope these take off in a speedy manner...
